Bentley SUV Range Expansion: Smaller SUV after Bentayga?
Aside from the very first Bentley SUV, confirmed for this year, the luxury automaker will probably release yet another vehicle to expand its crossover range. Several days ago, Bentley confirmed that this year’s SUV is going to be called the Bentayga. Yet another crossover, according to the Autocar report, will follow the Bentayga, but it’s not clear when they’re going to release it, if they decide to make it at all.
In comparison with the Bentley Bentayga, which is a full-size SUV, the possible second Bentley utility vehicle will be smaller. Speaking to Autocar, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer said that, in comparison with the market as a whole, the SUV market grows three times faster.
In an attempt to capitalize this trend, the upscale automaker will probably try to get a significant piece of the pie as soon as possible. With a smaller SUV, they will probably attract more customers who don’t need or, more likely, can’t afford the big Bentayga. According to the same Autocar article, Bentley has already received 4000 “expressions of interest” for the Bentayga.
Mr. Dürheimer added:
“There are other SUVs on the market that show the potential in that area. This derivative is definitely one of the ideas we have, but our store of ideas gets bigger and bigger.”
This means that the smaller Bentley SUV might not be manufactured, after all. But if they manage to find a viable business case, which really shouldn’t be a problem, there’s a pretty big chance that we’re going to see a smaller Bentayga’s sibling pretty soon.
