Scion Sedan Coming to 2015 New York Auto Show
Scion has announced that the 2015 New York Auto Show will host the premiere of an all-new model. They will introduce the very first Scion sedan alongside of the production Scion iM. We don’t know many details about the new sedan, but we know what the automaker wants.
Their intention is to refresh the brand’s lineup and to attract new young customers. The automaker has to offer something hip and intriguing, but the new models should be able to compete with all the other attractive urban cars. At the last Los Angeles Auto Show, Scion presented hatchback based on the Euro-spec Toyota Auris.
What Do We Know about Scion Sedan?
Since we have no insights about the upcoming model, we couldn’t say whether this would be a restyled Toyota sedan. However, there are some rumors which claim that the new Scion sedan will be manufactured in the new Mazda plant in Mexico, where it’s going to be enriched with the famous SKYACTIV technology.
Needless to say, there is no official confirmation of those speculations, but if the rumors come true, the all-new sedan would have a lot in common with the 2016 Mazda 2.
Doug Murtha, Scion Group Vice President said:
“With the iM hatchback and our first sedan, we’re inviting drivers to re-imagine what they can accomplish with a Scion. Both new models will stand out in the marketplace for their style and substance. I can confidently predict that 2015 will be an exciting year for Scion.”
The production Scion iM could be released by the end of the year as a 2016 model. Having in mind that the all-new sedan will be introduced this April, they would probably unveil the production version at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show as a 2017 model.
New Models to Refresh Scion Range
Both of the new Scion models are a part of the new strategy to reaffirm the brand. Aside from the already-introduced sporty iM hatchback and the all-new sedan – the first sedan in the brand’s history – there will be yet another model which will complete the new Scion three of a kind. Those models are expected to bring some vivacity to the brand’s lineup.
