Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition
Since Mercedes-Benz is in a celebratory mood, they have released a special edition of the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG coupe to honor the glorious season in the 2014 Formula One World Championship. As you probably know, the automaker has won the constructor’s title and their two drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, finished the season on the first and the second place, respectively. That’s why the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition was revealed in two versions designed by the drivers. While one version is dedicated to the Silverstone circuit, the other one was inspired by the Hockenheimring race track. Naturally, those two circuits were chosen because of the drivers’ nationalities. Unfortunately for all those who would love to buy this car, it’s going to be released in a symbolic volume of 19 units. That’s because the 2014 Formula One World Championship had 19 races.
Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition Engine
The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition is a roadster which is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine under the hood. The mill delivers 585 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque which delivers the power to the rear wheels using a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Of course, it has a limited-slip differential for better performance.
Race Tracks and Drivers’ Versions
The Rosberg’s version is white with silver details and it’s dedicated to the Hockenheimring circuit whose outline is displayed on several places. The Hamilton’s version is black with gold accents and it uses the outline of the Silverstone circuit as a leitmotif. Each of the other 17 units will be dedicated to the rest of the 2014 calendar. This way, every track will be displayed in the celebratory edition of the SL63 AMG.
It’s impossible to estimate what the next season will bring, but it seems that the automaker will be this good next year, too.
