Have You Ever Heard of Lexus LC 500 & Lexus LC 500h?
Several days ago we coupe based on the Lexus LF-LC concept. Although that is entirely true, the latest reports confuted what we said about its name. We assumed that the new performance coupe will go with the Lexus SC moniker, but it seems that we were wrong. According to the Lexus Enthusiast’s report, Lexus has trademarked two names at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Of course, no one can claim with a hundred percent certainty that those two will be used for the new flagship coupe, but it would be a really strange and bizarre coincidence if they have other plans with the new names. So, we can say that we’re almost certain that the upcoming performance coupe will come in two variants which will be called – the Lexus LC 500 and the Lexus LC 500h. Both of those names were registered in the USA, Canada and Australia.
Internal Combustion and Hybrid Powertrain Options
The future performance coupe will, therefore, probably come with two powertrains – a hybrid setup introduced with the Lexus LF-LC Sports Coupe concept and a conventional internal combustion option.
Some early speculations claim that the future coupe will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine which currently delivers 467 horsepower to the wheels of the 2015 Lexus RC F. Of course, it’s going to be boosted in order to make the new Lexus LC 500 the most powerful coupe within the range.
The Lexus LC 500h will probably have either a V6 or a V8 engine paired with an electric motor. This setup will, according to some announcements, be able to generate more than 500 horsepower.
As for the platform, the Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h will probably be underpinned by the basic architecture shared with the Lexus LS sedan.
When Can We Expect Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h?
The new halo coupe will probably be released sometime during 2017. Its price isn’t known at the moment, but its sure that it won’t be cheap.
