Jaguar F-Pace: New Jag Crossover Based on C-X17 Concept
The Jaguar C-X17 concept crossover will have its production iteration. Although there were various speculations about the crossover’s nameplate, the British automaker announced that the very first Jag crossover will be called the Jaguar F-Pace.
Evidently referring to the F-Type, the new crossover’s name is somewhat unexpected. We don’t know how many surprises they prepared, since this is basically everything that’s known with certainty so far.
Of course, we can anticipate how the latest member of the Jaguar family will appear, since they won’t redesign the C-X17 concept just so they can surprise us. Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design said:
“We received such an overwhelmingly positive response to the C-X17 concept car last year that we just had to make it a reality.
So, we can say – and be pretty confident about it – that they won’t depart from the design language established with the concept. They will stay loyal to the Jaguar recognizable design. This means that the Jaguar F-Pace won’t make any compromises. We can expect a true Jag with higher ground clearance.
The Jaguar F-Pace is the first brand’s crossover. The expansion of the brand across different market niches means that the automaker has a plan to significantly improve its sales. Current U.S. sales aren’t exactly brilliant. Last year, only 15,773 models left the dealerships. With the new Jaguar F-Pace and the other new models, the brand will probably reach the unexpected sales pinnacle.
The Jaguar F-Pace will be rolled-out sometime during 2016, probably as a 2017 model.
