Future Lexus Convertible – Very Hard to Choose
The 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show hosted the premiere of the Lexus LF-C2 concept. This convertible, focused on performance and new, bolder brand’s design language was introduced as a study for the upcoming convertible. Since the aging Lexus IS convertible is close to the end of its life span, the Toyota’s premium brand has to offer a new convertible. According to the Automotive News report, it’s questionable whether the automaker will decide to go with the Lexus LF-C2 or they’re going to wait for the announced LF-LC halo coupe which could be available soon. If they choose to manufacture the Lexus LF-C2 as a production version, this would mean that the top-notch performance LF-CL coupe won’t get a drop-top iteration. Reportedly, their palette can successfully support one convertible only. If the Lexus LF-C2 comes on the market it would be more affordable and it will probably be sold in many more units. On the other hand, having the LF-LC convertible is a way to express the brand’s power and exclusivity. With this choice, the automaker could have a really impressive couple of halo cars.
Lexus LF-C2 Design
The Lexus LF-C2 concept is an impressive amalgam of the brand’s core values and a new modern design approach. It can be considered as a luxurious and elegant convertible which doesn’t hesitate to show its power and full-blooded sporty heritage. At the LA Auto Show world premiere of the LF-C2 concept, Mr. Jeff Bracken, Lexus group vice president and general manager said:
“This concept shows consumers around the world Lexus’ devotion to emotional designs as well as our passion for an exceptional driving experience.”
With a gigantic mash grille and sleek body design, the LF-C2 looks like a convertible version of a performance racing car. Nonetheless, they’ve blended the aggressive tone of the exterior with luxury style of the interior. This way, the roadster is a perfect mix of the attractive sporty design and upscale premium style.
LF-C2 or LF-LC?
If they decide to go with the Lexus LF-C2, its market success will be inevitable. If they choose the LF-LC convertible, this couldn’t be an exact replacement of the outgoing Lexus IS, but it’s going to be amazing for sure. It’s really hard to determine what would be better. We hope the automaker will make the best choice possible.
