What Can next-Gen 2016 Kia Sportage Inherit from Kia KX3 Concept?
During the crossover had only some minor cosmetic updates. The 2016 Sportage will suffer a major makeover and some parts of the new design might be shown on the Kia KX3 Concept.
What Can Redesigned Sportage Inherit From Kia KX3 Concept?
The world premiere revealed a new sleeker design language and a younger style the Kia KX3 Concept has. It looks sportier than the other Kia crossovers, but it also stayed loyal to the brand’s distinctive design details. That’s why the Kia KX3 has a tiger-nose grille and overall body shape resembling the brand’s other SUV models. However, its smooth curves and a hint of Cayenne’s style is a tasteful refresh. We can’t disregard that the KX3 Concept is actually based on the Sportage. All the necessary elements are there – shape of the side windows, relatively tall hood and shoulders, and overall body shape. Of course, as some kind of a mirror image, the 2016 Kia Sportage might borrow a bit of the concept’s style. It will probably have the new grille. Changing the front fascia might require adopting some lines of the concept’s front grille fas well as the fog lights. We can’t say with certainty that those headlights have a future with the upcoming Sportage, since one of the crossover’s most distinctive exterior features is a tiger-nose grille and a pair of headlights brought into line. The rear end could be exploited more, but let’s wait for the first shots of the redesigned Kia Sportage.
Will Sportage Have Updated Engine Range?
The 2016 Sportage probably won’t have the engine which powers the KX3 Concept. While the concept has a 1.6-liter T-GDI engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. On the other hand, the next generation of the Kia Sportage will probably have a range which will consist of more powerful mills. Reportedly, it’s going to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that can generate 260 horsepower and a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder which is good for more than 200 horsepower. The expected transmission is a six-speed automatic.
