Have You Ever Heard of Audi Q8? New Sporty Flagship SUV Is Coming Soon
The Audi’s expansion will bring yet another SUV to the range. Reportedly, they’re currently working on the Audi Q8 which is going to be the flagship SUV, placed above all the other models in the Q lineup. Of course, the information about the new addition to the Audi SUV range is lacking, since the development of the Q8 is already in progress and the SUV will be released in three years from now. We know that it’s going to be sportier and more aggressive than the current SUVs. The new SUV probably won’t hijack the fans of the other Q lineup SUVs. It’s going to be sporty and dynamic, an Audi’s interpretation of the modern SUV coupe trend, so the real target are the fans of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the BMW X6. As for the design, the all-new Audi Q8 will employ the design language of the Audi Prologue Concept, introduced at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new design language will probably be a perfect match to the aggressive and dynamic nature of the Audi’s coupe SUV. The Audi Q8 – as well as the rumored Audi A9 flagship – is a part of the automaker’s plan to grab a bigger chunk of the market with more exclusive and luxurious models.
What Do They Want With Audi Q8?
Having in mind that potential buyers of the Audi Q8 are all around the globe, Audi has to create a vehicle which will be considered equally attractive on every market. They’re probably going to offer different versions for different markets, but the basic style will be the same. Of course, the Audi Q8 will be primarily distributed in the USA, China and the Middle East. Those markets can appreciate the new exciting style and the enhanced luxury of the new full-size SUV at the top of the range.
Body and Powertrain
Although it’s not very clear how they are going to implement the Prologue’s design into an SUV, there’s no doubt that the attractive lines and the powerful look will be transposed. The Audi Q8 will be built on the second-gen MLB platform which will provide great underpinning without unnecessary weight. As for the powertrain, the Audi Q8 will have a range of different engines. There will be a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and a plug-in hybrid version. Some reports claim that they’re going to install a W12 engine as well. It’s been speculated that the automaker could offer the Audi Q8 EV, an all-electric version of the SUV, but the specs of the electric powertrain aren’t known at the moment.
Audi A8 Release
The Audi Q8 is expected to be released sometime during 2017 as a 2018 model.
