Audi Q7 Plug-in Diesel Hybrid to Come in USA
The 2016 Audi Q7 will be released next year and this isn’t really big news. However, after the initial release of the new generation, the SUV and they hope it’s going to be well received. Aside from the Q7, they will install the new plug-in diesel hybrid powertrain inside the Audi A8, too. Obviously, their intention is to show how efficient their flagship vehicles could be. Having in mind that Audi is a luxury brand, their decision to use the highly-efficient powertrain for the halo vehicles might seem a bit strange. However, maybe it reveals that this is a marketing trick which should attract the attention to the new extraordinary plug-in hybrid powertrain which will be used in more affordable models in future.
How Many MPG Diesel Hybrid Can Return?
The expectations are that the Audi Q7 plug-in diesel hybrid will have a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine and an electric motor. The same setup is probably going to be used for the A8 sedan, too. Although we don’t know the plug-in diesel hybrid’s specs at the moment, there’s no doubt that it’s going to be amazing. The Q7’s European competitor, which was never available in the USA, the Volvo V60 plug-in diesel hybrid, after the European cycle fuel economy test, returned 129 mpg. The result isn’t realistic, but even if it would be 50 percent worse, it would still return 65 mpg. Miles per gallon of diesel fuel, of course. The Audi Q7 plug-in diesel hybrid is expected to come with similar fuel efficiency. Of course, we have to wait for the official EPA ratings, but the fuel economy is the most prominent feature the SUV will have.
Audi Q7 Plug-in Diesel Hybrid Release
It’s unclear when the Audi Q7 plug-in diesel hybrid will be released in the USA. We’re sure that both the gasoline and diesel options will be unveiled at the 2015 Detorit Auto Show and that they’re going to be released sometime during the next year. The diesel hybrid won’t be released simultaneously with those two. It will come after them, but at the moment, nobody knows whether we’re going to wait for several months, a year, or two.
