2018 Nissan Silvia Rumors: Is Next-Gen Truth or Myth?
The new 2018 Nissan Silvia might be launched by the end of 2017. According to the Carscoops report, which refers to the Motoring announcement, the sports coupe will be released to compete against the modern Japanese models – the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S. Although this would be great news for all the Nissan 240SX fans, Carscoops warned us that the rumors about the Silvia’s resurrection aren’t a reason to start saving money.
However, if those turn out to be true, the next-generation 2018 Nissan Silvia will heavily rely on the Nissan IDx concept and the Sport Sedan Concept. Utilizing the Sport Sedan’s contemporary style and the revolutionary design of the Nissan IDx, the new coupe might be very attractive and very exciting to drive as well. The 2018 Silvia is also going to use the rear-wheel drive platform which underpins the Nissan IDx concept.
2018 Nissan Silvia Engines and Performance
Some early rumors said that the new 2018 Nissan Silvia will be smaller in comparison with the new performance coupe which will replace the current 370Z. It will also be lighter, so the engines which could be used for the fresh addition to the Nissan’s lineup won’t be very powerful. It’s expected that the 2018 Silvia comes with a supercharged 1.2-liter mill, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine.
Since it’s going to use a rear-wheel-drive platform, there’s no doubt that the engines will deliver the power to the rear wheels, but it’s questionable what kind of transmission the new coupe will have. The expectations are that, instead of a CVT, the coupe could have a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
When Can We Expect New Silvia If We Can Expect It at All?
The World Car Fans article indicated that the very first chance to see the 2018 Nissan Silvia will be after the expected debut of the revised Nissan IDx concept which should be unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show next October. The production 2018 Nissan Silvia – if they ever make it – is probably going to be released by the end of 2017.
Although the 2018 Nissan Silvia would be a great addition to coupe are based on various rumors, so there’s no any official statement or even a hint which would suggest that they’re thinking about the 2018 Silvia. This doesn’t mean that they won’t make the new Silvia, but at this point, no one can say that the car is in development.
