2017 Toyota RAV4 Update — Exterior, Interior, Safety and Engine Changes
When the 2017 Toyota RAV4 comes in the dealerships, we’ll probably have various other new SUVs offered. However, the mid-cycle update of the RAV4 will certainly make the Toyota SUV fresh and attractive. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 is coming not-so-radical design changes, but it might get a new engine. Since there’s still a lot of time until the production version is introduced, we don’t have precise and exact information about the SUV’s refresh. We only know some basic changes which is enough for speculations about the RAV4’s appearance. Of course, the automaker won’t change just the exterior. The elaborate interior changes and significantly improved safety are equally important to them, so they’ll dedicate a lot of attention to those aspects. If they decide to offer a new engine besides the current one, it’s going to be a turbocharged 2.0-liter mill which is noticeably more powerful than the current engine. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 with all those changes is expected to be released sometime during 2016.
2017 Toyota RAV4 Exterior Update
The new generation of the Toyota RAV4 will probably be released in 2018 as a 2019 model. Until the redesign, the updated RAV4 will offer a fresh appearance and numerous improvements. The exterior will be changed, but not significantly. Some reports said that the 2017 RAV4 will borrow some of the design elements seen at the Toyota C-HR Crossover Concept. Namely, the RAV4’s front fascia will be redesigned following the new style which came with the concept. It’s expected that the 2017 Toyota RAV4 gets a new grille, a restyled front bumper and different headlights. Of course, they won’t just paste the concept’s design at the face of the 2017 RAV4. Although refreshed, the new RAV4 will stay modest and elegant, without avant-garde design cues which are immanent to almost every concept vehicle. Having a new design in a suitable dosage, the 2017 Toyota RAV4 will probably find a perfect blend of old and new. It will be fresh, but not arrogant, interesting and appealing, but not ostentatious.
Interior and Safety Improvements
The interior will also be improved. If the rumors about the cabin improvements are true, the 2017 Toyota RAV4 might have a completely redesigned interior. Our opinion is that the automaker won’t go that far with a mid-cycle update. The interior might be significantly updated with numerous improvements and even slightly changed style, but the total redesign will probably have to wait for the next-gen model. However, we should be cautious about this, since Toyota can surprise us and improve the SUV by a drastically redesigned interior. As we heard, the 2017 Toyota RAV4 will also have improved safety. Currently, there’s nothing more elaborate about this topic, so we have to wait to find out what kind of safety improvements they’ve made.
Will There Be a New Powerful Engine?
Since the only engine offered with the current model isn’t enough for the new RAV4 to tackle the rivals, the automaker might decide to offer one more engine. Perhaps the new engine isn’t something that’s going to bring loads of new buyers, but it’s important to have more than one engine offered. Nowadays, it’s not just a courtesy towards the customers, it’s the only way a vehicle can survive the severe fight on the market. They will probably have some troubles adapting the current RAV4 to the new engine. It’s questionable whether they’re going to find such a change worthwhile. The new engine which can be installed in the 2017 Toyota RAV4 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder which delivers 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It’s significantly more powerful than the current four-cylinder which generates 176 horsepower.
2017 Toyota RAV4 Price
If the 2017 Toyota RAV4 comes with a new engine, this version will, naturally, be more expensive. It’s estimated that it could cost more than $30,000. However, the price of the 2017 RAV4 with the old mill probably won’t be drastically changed. Even if the updated model comes with an increased price, the increase will be modest and not much higher than the current entry price which is around $23,500.
