2017 Scion FR-S Sedan Features

The 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan will be released as an iteration of the FR-S coupe. The mid-size sedan, which will be heavily based on the FR-S coupe, should be a window to the future of the brand. Although it will use a lot of the elements which were developed for some other models, the 2017 FR-S Sedan will be an all-new car, whose purpose isn’t just to expand the brand’s palette; it’s a sedan which will probably be able to successfully compete on the mid-size sedan market and it’s a window to the future where we can anticipate the plans for the other Scion models. The 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan will share the same basic architecture with its coupe counterpart. Of course, there will be some changes which will affect the sedan’s appearance and performance, but nevertheless, those two will be very close. As for the powertrain, there are two options expected. The 2017 FR-S Sedan won’t borrow the 2.0-liter boxer engine from the 2016 Scion FR-S coupe. Instead, it will use a more powerful 2.0-liter engine, but the boxer will be used for the hybrid setup. Yes, there will be the 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan Hybrid, whose overall power output will probably match the power output of the gasoline-only version.

2017 Scion FR-S Sedan Bodywork, Design And Style

The platform of the 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan will be shared with the coupe version, as we already said. However, the body of the sedan will be slightly bigger, so they have to make some adjustments, but the essence won’t be changed. The FR-S Sedan’s length will be 187 inches, width 70 inches and height 55 inches. The coupe’s style could be recognized in the sedan’s appearance, but this doesn’t mean that the sedan doesn’t have other influences. There will be some design elements which could be seen at the Subaru Cross Sport Design Concept. Naturally, the 2017 FR-S Sedan has to be unique and distinctive, so they will make it stand out from the rest of the lineup.

Subaru’s 300-hp 2.0-liter Four-cylinder & Hybrid Powertrain With 2.0-liter Boxer

We already said a little bit about the sedan’s powertrain. The 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, borrowed from the Subaru lineup. This mill generates around 300 horsepower. The coupe’s 2.0-liter boxer, which delivers 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of twist, won’t be neglected. It will be used for the hybrid setup, where they will pair it with an electric motor. While the boxer engine will power the rear wheels, the electric motor will send its power to the front wheels, making the 2017 FR-S Hybrid an all-wheel drive car, which is yet another difference from the gasoline-only version. Overall power output of the hybrid setup will probably be around 300 horsepower.

2017 Scion FR-S Sedan Release & Estimated Price

The 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan will probably be introduced sometime during 2015 as a 2017 model and it’s expected to be available early 2016. Of course, this is just an estimation, because it’s too early to have an official confirmation, since there are almost two years until the sedan’s release. For the same reason, it impossible to say with certainty how much the FR-S Sedan will cost. However, some speculations say that the base MSRP will be around $30,000. The 2017 Scion FR-S Sedan Hybrid will probably start at $40,000 or a bit more.
