2017 Porsche Panamera Next Generation — Athlete And Beauty
The current Panamera is still fresh and new, but the manufacturer is working on the next generation. Reportedly, the 2017 Porsche Panamera is going to follow the design of the Panamera Sport Turismo concept, but there will be some unique details which will make the redesign more distinctive and appealing. The upcoming 2017 Panamera won’t be just a better looking car. It’s going to be based on a brand new platform which will make the body lighter than before. This achievement will be used for a body growth, so the new Panamera will be longer and wider in comparison with the current model. As for the powertrain, the 2017 Porsche Panamera will keep the current lineup, but it’s going to have yet another engine, a new V8 powerplant. If the rumors about the plug-in hybrid model are true, the 2017 Panamera Hybrid will be improved by a new battery pack. It’s expected that the new battery pack provides better performance and longer all-electric range.
2017 Porsche Panamera Body Changes
As we already said, the exterior design of the 2017 Porsche Panamera will be based on the Panamera Sport Turismo concept, so the redesign will be evolutionary. However, no matter the fact that the redesigned Panamera will keep the classic style, there will be some new details which will contribute to the bolder, more powerful expression. Built on the modular MSB platform (Modularer Standardantrieb-Baukasten), the new Panamera will have better underpinning, but less weight. It seems that the automaker is going to use the weight loss to make the Panamera’s body a bit larger. They used high-strength steel and aluminum in order to decrease the weight, but it’s questionable whether they’re going to keep the body 200 pounds lighter. If the 2017 Porsche Panamera comes with changed dimensions, like it’s expected, the weight loss might be modest. However, the longer and wider body will certainly bring additional value. Thanks to this particular change, the handling and cornering of the fastback will be improved. Of course, the 2017 Panamera will, therefore, be more comfortable inside and the ride will be smoother. The cabin of the new Panamera is going to be redesigned. According to some sources, it will be minimalistic, with the latest technology and some classic details that are reminiscent of the rich Porsche heritage.
Powertrain Changes: New V8 Engine & Updated Hybrid Setup For Redesigned Panamera
While the new generation employs the same engines, the new V8 mill will be a worthy addition to the engine range. Unfortunately, at this point we don’t know more about this mill. The rest of the engine lineup will be very well known. There will be a range of six-cylinder mills which will deliver from 300 to 400 horsepower in accordance with the manufacturer’s policy for every particular market. The U.S.-spec 2017 Porsche Panamera will have a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 420 horsepower. This mill can be mated with a dual-clutch PDK transmission or an ordinary eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 2017 Porsche Panamera plug-in hybrid will, reportedly, get a new battery pack which will make the fastback’s performance better. Details about the new battery pack aren’t known at the moment, but there’s no doubt that the car’s autonomy and performance will be improved.
2017 Porsche Panamera Pricing
The redesign of the 2017 Porsche Panamera will probably bring a slight price increase. However, the release date is still far away, so every assumption about the possible price wouldn’t be founded. Our estimate is that the price of the redesigned 2017 Panamera won’t be significantly higher, but we have to wait until the official pricing is announced.
