2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Spied
We found two videos that disclose almost every detail of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class before the official premiere which should take place sometime next year, probably in Geneva. The latest addition to the three-pointed-star range is coming with some radical changes.
The car’s complete redesign started deep beneath the surface with a new platform and then it continued throughout the body in order to develop a drastically redesigned E-Class. Of course, they kept a lot from the previous generation, so the redesign is evolutionary, but the sedan’s looks is going to be different, as well as its performance.
2017 E-Class is Underpinned by MRA Platform
So, the new MRA platform, lighter and more rigid, provides better underpinning than the one before. This is due to the immense use of aluminum. The MRA platform, developed be as modular as it can be – the acronym MRA stands for Modular Rear Architecture – has been made to suit different wheelbases and different engines.
We can only imagine how many hours Daimler engineers spent perfecting this piece of metal. Therefore, the 2017 E-Class won’t be troubled to beat its predecessor in fuel economy, performance and safety tests.
Those videos revealed the exterior of the redesigned E-Class. Although the signature Mercedes-Benz style can’t be avoided, the design shift towards the smoother exterior design is pretty obvious. The new model looks like a younger and vigorous cousin of the late E-Class. Both its front and rear fascia suffered an extensive revision of the style, so the 2017 E-Class got a new character. With new lights, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class also got a new light signature.
Borrowed Interior Style
Many said that the interior of the new E-Class will resemble the interior of the S-Class. Now it’s clear that there was some foundation in those rumors. Although we can’t see the E-Class’ interior in its entirety on the spy videos, we saw enough to be sure that the dashboard design borrowed the style from the S-Class.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Engine Option Rumors
Never-ending speculations about future cars’ engines sometimes add a teaspoon of fantasy in the automotive world. However, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class speculations are pretty real. It’s been rumored that the new E-Class will be motivated by a three-, four-, and six-cylinder mills. The AMG iteration might be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that’s good for around 600 horsepower.
The time will tell if this was true, but it seems that there’s no any doubt when it comes to transmission. Reportedly, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will have a new nine-speed automatic gearbox offered without any alternatives.
2017 E-Class Debut
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class debut has probably been scheduled for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but there’s a chance that the U.S.-spec version has its premiere at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show this January.
