2017 Infiniti QX30 Crossover Based On Q30 Hatchback
The 2017 Infiniti QX30, a new crossover based on the Infiniti Q30, should be available in the U.S. sometime during 2016. This vehicle will be a result of an intense cooperation between Nissan and Daimler. That’s why the 2017 QX30 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class will have a lot in common. Although the line of Infiniti crossovers and SUVs is pretty decent, they have a plan to nest the new QX30 below the already well known QX50. Having in mind that the QX50 is already pretty small, the 2017 QX30 is expected to have more hatchback characteristics than crossover design features. Of course, its ground clearance will be noticeable higher compared with the Q30, but other features will probably resemble the Q30 more than expected. Using the design language of the Etherea concept, the 2017 Infiniti QX30 will look modern and appealing, which is one of the important features. This crossover will have very severe competition, but since it’s Infiniti and we don’t doubt that they will do anything they can to make it the best they can, there will be an interesting battle at the small luxury crossover market segment.
2017 Infiniti QX30 MFA Platform And Exterior Design
This crossover will probably be underpinned by a platform which is already used for the CLA-Class and the GLA-Class. Although the MFA platform used for Mercedes-Benz models seems like a really good option, the 2017 Infiniti QX30 might come with another platform. There is a possibility that they use the slightly modified platform of the Nissan Juke or, according to some speculations, a completely new platform which will be developed by Nissan only. Having in mind that the aforementioned cooperation between Nissan and Daimler already had satisfying results, the 2017 QX30 will probably come with the MFA platform. As for the appearance, the design language borrowed form the Etherea concept will inspire the new QX30, but we don’t expect that all of the curves seen at the Etherea come to life with a production model. Of course, there’s probably no need to mention that the QX30 will be the closest relative of the Q30, so the bodies of both the hatchback and the crossover version will look pretty similar. The exterior of the 2017 Infiniti QX30 will probably be more extravagant, with specific sporty feel which comes with every crossover.
Speculations About Engine Options — Gas, Diesel And Plug-in Hybrid
The powertrain of the 2017 Infiniti QX30 isn’t known yet, but reportedly, this crossover will use an inline-four turbocharged engine. There are also certain speculations which say that there might be a performance edition (or just a more powerful engine option) which will offer a V6 engine under the hood. We also expect some diesel engines to be offered. There’s no reason to doubt that all of the engine options will be the same as the mills installed in the Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This means that we can expect a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four and a 2.1-liter turbodiesel, among other engines. Of course, those powerplants will be tweaked and adjusted to the particular model. We hope that engine tweaks will improve EPA fuel economy and make the performance of the 2017 QX30 great. According to some semi-reliable reports, this crossover may come as a hybrid, too. The 2017 Infiniti QX30 hybrid will have very similar powertrain as the one installed in the QX50 hybrid.
2017 Infiniti QX30 Release Date And Estimated Price
The 2017 Infiniti QX30 will be released in the U.S. during 2016. This crossover will be released on Japanese and Chinese markets first and after the Far East release, it comes in the U.S. As for the price, it’s really hard to estimate, but having in mind the prices of the other Infiniti QX models, we can assume that the base model of the 2017 Infiniti QX30 might probably cost around $30,000.
