2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Details: Specs, Features & Release
The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia was introduced in Italy. Aside from the all-new design and new technologies, the stylish Italian sedan has amazing power output. Rated at 510 horsepower, the 2017 Giulia Quadrofoglio is going to be a really tough rival to the established performance sedans.
They are going to introduce less powerful versions, motivated by four-cylinder engines, as well as Euro-spec diesel variants. However, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrofoglio is a true performance sedan that can compete with the BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG C63 S and Audi S4.
Before the premiere, the expectations were that the Giulia is going to be a handsome Italian reply to the German sedans. Now, some say that the Giulia isn’t what they were expecting and that it resembles it German rivals more that it would be polite.
The appearance of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is based on the distinctive Alfa Romeo design. They certainly had to follow modern day rules and to use market research data, because what’s the point of manufacturing a beautiful car that everyone adores, but no one wants in the garage. It’s clear that they tried to create a perfect amalgam of the traditional passionate Alfa Romeo design and contemporary robust and sophisticated style. The market will say whether they succeeded or not.
As a full-blooded racer, the 2017 Giulia has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. And according to the automaker, the sedan has the best weight-to-power ratio. Vast use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and carbon fiber, resulted in less than 3 kilograms per horsepower (approximately 6.6 pounds per horsepower).
The version introduced wears a Quadrofoglio badge. The word Quadrofoglio means four-leaf clover in Italian and the fact that the 2017 Giulia wears it means that it’s top-of-the-range model.
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrofoglio Performance
Under the hood of the 2017 Giulia Quadrofoglio the automaker nested a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, the same mill that’s used to motivate the Maserati Quattroporte. Thanks to the powerful aluminum engine mated with a six-speed manual gearbox and its 510 horsepower, the Italian beauty accelerates to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds.
Inevitably, the other engine options that will be available stateside are going to be be less passionate than the Quadrofoglio, but no matter how much power four-cylinder versions could deliver, there’s no doubt the 2017 Giulia is going to be a remarkable car with sporty spirit.
The automaker said that the 2017 Giulia has three “unique, exclusive technical solutions”. There’s Torque Vectoring for superb stability control, Integrated Brake System for shortening braking distance and Active Aero Splitter for “active high-speed downforce management”.
