2016 Toyota Tacoma — New Generation Features

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be redesigned. The next generation of this compact pickup truck is impatiently awaited. The new Tacoma is currently in a testing phase, which means that the truck’s development is over. Although we don’t know a lot about the redesign, there are some rumors which will help us paint the picture of the next generation.
There are some novelties which will probably gladden the Tacoma’s fans. With powertrain changes and improved body and interior, there’s no aspect where the 2016 Tacoma wasn’t improved. Since this pickup truck has a really big fanbase, it could have great sales. And the fans have no reason to worry, the 2016 model will keep its distinctive style. Of course, it will be improved, but under new clothes, everyone will be able to recognize the old, distinctive Tacoma style.

2016 Toyota Tacoma Redesigned Exterior

Although it’s a common practice to get a new platform for a new generation, the 2016 Tacoma will be built on the current architecture. Of course, the current frame will be tweaked in order to suit the particular characteristics of this model. If the early, not so reliable reports are true, the new Tacoma will come without a Regular Cab.
The style of the new Tacoma is traditional in general, but fresh styling touch will amaze the public. This pickup truck will look like the old Tacoma, all of the recognizable design cues will be there, but it will have a new, modern and fresh design at the same time. This is a very hard task, since redesigning a vehicle without diverting from its original appearance is almost impossible.
The manufacturer obviously decided not to use the exterior redesign card. They could alter the Tacoma’s exterior to the extent that no one could recognize it, but they kept it simple and slightly improved the appearance, just enough to make a redesign. The redesign which won’t be radical enough to leave the traditional Tacoma’s style.

Powertrain Changes and Improvements

The big news is that the 2016 Toyota Tacoma will have a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual instead of the old four- and five-speed automatic transmissions. This change will affect the performance, driving, and fuel efficiency of the truck. They will also improve the suspension, so it’s expected to be more comfortable. Also, the truck might have some engine changes.
It’s too early to estimate what engine options the 2016 Tacoma will have, but the changes which will probably be made could only be better. The current model has a 4.0-liter V6 engine, with 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of twist. The same powerplant could be used for the 2016 model, but they are probably going to improve it a little bit. Reportedly, this engine will become direct-injected. It’s estimated that it could tow more than the current 6,500 pounds, while its fuel efficiency will be better.
If the rumors about the new engine options are true, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma will get a diesel engine option, too. There’s no sufficient information about that, but we wouldn’t be surprised if one of Toyota’s famous D-4D diesels finds its way under the hood of the 2016 Tacoma.

2016 Toyota Tacoma Premiere and Release

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be available late next year. Its premiere could be at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show and its release date will probably be scheduled for the end of the next year. As for the price,  it’s hard to estimate at this point, but there are some assumptions that it will be slightly higher.
