It’s been speculated that the redesign will be mild and evolutionary, meaning that they won’t radically change the truck’s exterior. Possible Powertrain Improvements

There are numerous speculations about possible engine range expansion; the truck’s engine lineup, reportedly, won’t have just gasoline powertrain options improved. According to the rumors, it could get a diesel D-4D engine, too. This would be an advantage, but their focus was probably on improving the current range. Take this with a grain of salt, but we expect the 2016 Toyota Tacoma to come with engines whose power output was boosted. Since the new rivals have better fuel economy, the redesigned Tacoma might have this aspect improved, too.
