2016 Nissan GT-R Changes Improved Performance
The 2016 Nissan GT-R will be powered by a hybrid setup, which will be rather impressive. According to some sources, the 2016 GT-R will have around 800 horsepower. Aside from the powertrain improvements, this sports car will also come with improved interior and some slight exterior changes. However, if the rumors about this car are true, the bodywork is also improved, so the 2016 Nissan GT-R lost some weight. Of course, since this is a performance car, the most important aspect of this vehicle is its powertrain. Although the V6 engine remained the same, the GT-R’s hybrid powertrain is altered, improving the performance and specs. The 2016 Nissan GT-R will be introduced at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The release date isn’t known yet, but it’s estimated that this car will hit the dealerships by the end of the next year.
2016 Nissan GT-R Performance & Specs
Although the engine will remain the same, the manufacturer improved the 2016 Nissan GT-R hybrid by tweaking the Kinetic Energy Recovery System. The twin-turbo engine is a 3.8-liter V6 which delivers 580 horsepower. The updated Kinetic Energy Recovery System will improve the hybrid setup’s power output, which will now generate around 800 horsepower and 847 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid setup consists of the V6 engine and three electric motors. While one electric motor is used for the rear wheels, the front wheels get two motors. Since the 2016 GT-R has this impressive powertrain, it has stunning, almost unbelievable specs. Reportedly, it accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds. The top speed of this supercar is around 210 mph. This performance car will have a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Body And Interior Changes
We mentioned earlier that the 2016 GT-R will come with some exterior and interior changes. The manufacturer will probably improve the platform in order to decrease the weight of the vehicle. Currently, the GT-R weights around 3,885 pounds. Having in mind the power of this car, 3,885 pounds might not seem to be a lot, but since this is a performance car, every single pound is important. It’s expected that the manufacturer uses a lot of lightweight materials, mostly aluminum and carbon-fiber, wherever it’s possible. As for the appearance, some sources said that the exterior will be altered in order to provide better drag coefficient. This could result in somewhat more modern and dynamic appearance. The interior could also have its improvements, but we don’t know details yet.
2016 Nissan GT-R Premiere, Release & Estimated Price
As we already said, the 2016 Nissan GT-R will have its premiere at the 2015 New York Auto Show and it could be released by the end of 2015. As for the price, it’s not known yet, but some unofficial estimates claim that the base 2016 GT-R will cost somewhere between $150,000 and $200,000.
