2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic Specs: We Want It in America!

The new generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class has some substantial changes, but the real star of the A-Class family is the 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic. Although it looks beautiful, since it seems that, historically, the A-Class benefited the most from the current partially uniform brand’s design language, its true charm sits beneath the hood.

It’s not available in the U.S. yet, but the automaker should rally consider distributing this astonishing hot hatch stateside.

2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic Has 381 Horsepower

This unique specimen is an amazing example of how a hot hatch actually should be made. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 is an untamed racer powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers stunning 381 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Within the hatchback segment, the Mercedes-AMG A45 is the most powerful car ever.

If you want to emphasize how powerful the 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic actually is, perhaps an outrageous comparison would be in order. So, the 2015 Ford F-150 with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivers 365 horsepower. That’s precisely sixteen horsepower less than the A45. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 has nineteen horsepower more than its direct rival, the Audi RS3.

Of course, opposed to the  Mercedes-AMG A45 and Audi RS3, the F-150 is a truck and it needs as much torque as it can get, so its 420 lb-ft of twist couldn’t really be compared with the AMG’s torque. But we must be aware that we’re comparing a truck with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a stylish hatchback motivated by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill.

Hot Hatch Has Really Amazing Performance

Thanks to the turbocharged inline-four and its improved seven-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission, the 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic accelerates from standstill to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 155 mph. And according to the automaker, its average fuel consumption is 6.9 l/100 km combined. That’s around 34 mpg.  Of course, it would be reasonable to assume that if you want to use all the power that’s at your disposal, the hot hatch would be thirstier, but these figures are really impressive.

Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic Performance

Loaded with technology that improves the car’s character on the road, the 2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic offers an amazing experience to the driver. Handsome, elegant and robust exterior style meets the sophistication inside the cabin, so the A45 might be, at the moment, the most beautiful car within the segment.

Will It Ever Be Available in USA?

Unfortunately, this generation of the A-Class range won’t be distributed stateside. However, all the accomplishments of the Mercedes-Benz R&D team will hopefully find their way to the models that are available in the U.S. and maybe the next generation will be glad to roam across the American roads.
