2016 Mazda6 Update: How New Features and Changes Improved Mazda6
Although the mid-cycle update of the 2016 Mazda6 wasn’t very thorough, since they’ve changed only some facets of the popular sedan, the changes are thought-out and very useful. Truth being told, this car probably didn’t need a facelift. It was introduced two years ago and it was still looking good. However, the rest of the automaker’s lineup suffered some exterior changes due to the fact that the Kodo design language is always in evolution, so the 2016 Mazda6 had to have a cosmetic surgery in order to avoid looking outdated in comparison with the other Mazda cars. The update was very gentle, so the 2016 Mazda6 got a new front fascia which is just slightly altered, fresh wheels, a couple of new colors and some interior changes. The instrument panel has been changed, but that’s not the only novelty. The 2016 Mazda6 has a new Mazda Connect system and some other improvements.
2016 Mazda6 Update – Restyled Exterior
The exterior of the 2016 Mazda6 is updated in a very tasteful way. The car’s front fascia got a new grille and a new pair of reshaped LED headlights. Although this may sound like the refreshed Mazda6 had a complete redesign, the truth is that the update just altered the existing design in an evolutionary way. The grille is still recognizable and the headlights had just a slight shape change. The sedan’s rear end has slightly altered taillights. Aside from the new 19-inch wheels the other exterior changes are rather subtle. The 2016 Mazda6 is coming in two new colors – Titanium Flash Mica and Sonic Silver Metallic. It also got a redesigned shark fin antenna.
2016 Mazda6 Interior and Technology Changes
Inside the cabin with improved noise cancellation, the updated sedan has an instrument panel which wasn’t exactly redesigned, but it suffered some mild changes. The 2016 Mazda6 will use a seven-inch screen to display the updated Mazda Connect system which was inherited from the latest Mazda3. There’s a brand-new Electrical Parking Brake which will probably be seen inside the other Mazda models soon. The updated 2016 Mazda6 is equipped by the latest package of safety systems conjoined within the i-Activsense package.
No Powertrain Surprises
As for the powertrain, the 2016 Mazda6 won’t get the announced diesel engine or the diesel hybrid setup. It will continue with its direct-injected 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine which delivers 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. The mill can be paired with either a six-speed automatic SKYACTIV-Drive or a six-speed manual SKYACTIV-MT transmission.
2016 Mazda6 Price and Release Date
Although the pricing hasn’t been announced yet, it’s known that the 2016 Mazda6 will be released in February 2015, so we’re probably going to learn the prices soon enough.
