2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Price and Trims
The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata starts at $24,915 without destination fee. This price tag is, of course, for the entry model called the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Sport. There are two other trims whose price is going to be higher, but the exact figures will be announced later this spring.
The long-awaited new Miata will be released this summer. Relying on the SKYACTIV technology and the famous Kodo design language, this handsome roadster is exactly what we were expecting of the new 2016 MX-5.
The MX-5 is a legendary roadster that’s been one of the most entertaining vehicles of the niche since the early ’90s. Its fame, unique charm and blistering temperament are what makes it so attractive.
Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO Mazda North American Operations said:
“As we get closer to the MX-5’s summer on-sale date, we’re seeing a surge in interest and excitement from enthusiasts and journalists. Already, early MX-5 reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and we expect the momentum that MX-5 has garnered to continue to build as drivers get behind the wheel of our fourth-generation sports car.”
And really, everybody loves Miata. It’s just one of those cars that are iconic in a particular segment. That’s why the stakes are pretty high and the automaker must keep their fingers crossed when the 2016 MX-5 Miata hits the showrooms. It’s so easy to fail the expectations these days.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Trim Levels
According to the automaker, there will be a range of different trims – Sport, Club and Grand Touring – in order to satisfy various needs of its fans. Rod McLaughlin, MX-5 vehicle line manager said:
“The three trim levels available – Sport, Club and Grand Touring – are tailored for three very different types of customers, broadening the MX-5’s appeal. The Sport model is for those desiring a pure, lightweight, unadulterated wind-in-the-hair driving experience. MX-5 Club is for those seeking a more aggressive appearance and driving experience and Grand Touring models are for loyal MX-5 owners who seek premium amenities and a driving experience that only MX-5 can deliver.”
SKYACTIV Engine and Transmission
The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club has been introduced at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The Club version is, according to the automaker, a North American-focused model. Powered by a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G engine, the appealing two-seater is expected to have impressive performance.
While the official test results haven’t been announced yet, we can assume that 150 pounds weight loss and SKYACTIV technology contributed to a significant improvement of driving characteristics.
The SKYACTIV-G engine is mated with either a standard six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Mazda Connect infotainment system behind a seven-inch color touchscreen display comes as standard. There are also HD and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, nine-speaker Bose audio system with headrest speakers, two USB ports and piano black side mirrors.
