2016 Lincoln MKX: You’ve Never Seen a Lincoln like This
The 2016 Lincoln MKX isn’t what the automotive public expected before the Detroit premiere. Although it is an attractive luxury crossover, yet another step forward for the classic luxury brand and its revival of the upscale aspirations, they introduced a vehicle that’s able to surprise you in more than just one way.
Although the 2016 MKX can’t exactly compete with the most prominent luxury vehicles whose price tags are with six figures, the level of luxury this crossover offers is really good enough for the most of the people. Of course, we have to wait for the pricing announcement in order to make a final judgment, but if they offer it at a reasonable price, the all-new MKX might be a game changer for the Ford’s luxury brand.
2016 Lincoln MKX Redesign
The exterior redesign is evidently elaborate and thorough. Applying the new design language went really good. In fact, the first reactions are that the 2016 MKX looks better than its range mate, the MKC. Making a five-passenger crossover striking isn’t so easy nowadays when everyone and his brother are in the mid-size-crossover business.
But, nonetheless, the 2016 Lincoln MKX will certainly stand out from the crowd. Its elegant style is really unique. Smooth curves and exciting edges sculpted the new MKX in a really sophisticated manner. The most attractive segment of the crossover’s body is its front fascia where a pair of huge wings has been spread across the entire width.
Stylish and Comfortable Interior
Inside the cabin you’d probably enjoy the experience of all the premium materials. As we already said, the 2016 Lincoln MKX can’t be compared with drastically more expensive vehicles. But if you’re disgusted by decadent and esoteric interiors of the most upscale vehicles of the world, you’d probably have some difficulties digesting the interior of the more affordable, but incredible, luxury MKX.
The automaker’s intention was to make a cozy and comfortable cabin which won’t just be a shout-out of their luxury orientation. The list of features is really long and the most of those are available in packages, but the most upscale improvements are brought by the Black Label trim.
There are four Black Label themes available, two of which are new. Aside from Modern Heritage and Indulgence, they will offer Muse and Triple Crown. While the Muse theme will be inspired by the 1920s Paris lifestyle, fashion and art scene, the Triple Crown version used grandeur of horse racing spectacles as a motif.
Those who like extremely comfortable ride can upgrade the 2016 MKX with a set of 22-way adjustable power seats with 11 adjustable air bladders, four-way power head restraint and power thigh extender.
2016 Lincoln MKX Technology: Revel Audio, 360-Degree Camera and Other Features
The Revel Ultima audio system is available on Reserve variant, but the Black Label models get it as a standard feature. The 19-speaker system provides amazing sound quality. Slightly below the top-notch Revel Ultima is the 13-speaker Revel system available on the Select and Reserve models.
Needless to say, the 2016 Lincoln MKX is loaded with technology and of course it has amazing connectivity. Using the MyLincoln Mobile app, you can start (and schedule a remote start), lock, unlock and locate your MKX.
There’s a 360-degree camera, for the first time installed in the MKX crossover, which works together with 12 sensors in order to provide great parking assistance. The 2016 MKX can automatically park itself in both perpendicular and parallel parking spaces.
Perhaps worth mentioning, but nothing special, you think, since the vehicles that can do the same aren’t something uncommon anymore, but can those vehicles park out of the parking space? The new MKX uses its ultrasonic rear sensors to do so.
When you’re with your key fob at approximately 9 feet from the crossover, its LED daytime running lights will salute you, the door handles will be illuminated and the “welcome mat” will be projected on the ground.
Engine Options: Powerful V6 Mills, Transmission and Drive
The 2016 Lincoln MKX comes with a standard 3.7-liter V6 engine which delivers 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that’s good for more than 330 horsepower and more than 370 lb-ft of twist.
“The new 2.7-liter EcoBoost adds a new level of performance to the all-new Lincoln MKX,” said Chief Program Engineer Elaine Bannon. “The focus is on delivering a total personalized luxury experience for our client: performance, quiet ride, power and technologies that make life easier, all in an environment wrapped in rich materials.”
Both of those mills are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission which delivers the power to the front wheels. While front-wheel drive is standard, the 2016 MKX can be delivered with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
2016 Lincoln MKX Price and Release
The 2016 Lincoln MKX is coming this fall. At this point, we can’t say with certainty how much the new MKX will cost. The estimates are that its starting price won’t be higher than the current model’s, but we have to wait for the official pricing announcement.
