2016 Lincoln MKX Price: Starting MSRP Is $38,995
The 2016 Lincoln MKX is coming redesigned, but at a lower price than before. Truth be told, the luxury crossover’s entry MSRP isn’t drastically lower – only $800 – but having in mind that the 2016 MKX is actually a substantial redesign, the $38,995 price seems more than fair.
We already wrote about the 2016 MKX, its changes and appearance. Now, we’d like to focus on luxury and upscale tiny details that make this crossover so attractive. Of course, speaking of a Lincoln means speaking of luxury, but this particular model got some new stylish improvements.
The automaker said that the 2016 Lincoln MKX has some “hidden” improvements. They added foam to the wrapped console side panels, door armrests and steering wheel. Aside from that, they reinforced the dead-pedal rest. The 2016 MKX also got stainless steel at the door and tailgate.
Stacy Swank, Lincoln craftsmanship supervisor said:
“Craftsmanship sits between the worlds of engineering and design. Our role is to bring those worlds together to enhance the experience for the customer. We like to think that if you don’t notice what’s been done, then we’ve done our job.”
Following the paradigm they offer Bridge of Weir Deepsoft leather that’s been developed for Lincoln vehicles. This particular type of leather suffers a sixteen-hour-long softening process.
The interior of the 2016 MKX has overall cleaner feel. For example, they took care of the small 2.5-mm indent where the headliner joints with the A-pillar, so the indent is now inside the joint.
That’s just an illustration of how dedicated they were to improve the luxury crossover to the finest detail.
“The data, the science and the math help ensure everything fits together correctly and address the tangible elements of quality,” said Swank. “Part of the role of the craftsmanship team is to address the intangible elements of quality – how the space makes you feel, your reaction when you get in and experience the vehicle.”
The automaker also said in the release: “Reducing margins and eliminating sharp edges, cut lines, parting lines and visible fasteners – while using genuine wood and metal – drives fit and finish.”
The crossover is going to have two engine options. There’s a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost that delivers more than 330 horsepower and more than 370 lb-ft of torque. And there’s a standard 3.7-liter V6 that’s good for 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of twist. No matter the powerplant, the 2016 MKX is going to have a six-speed automatic gearbox and standard front-wheel drive. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system will be available as an option.
