2016 Kia Rio Refresh — Minor Exterior Update
The 2016 Kia Rio, a subcompact car which will be released next year, will come slightly refreshed. Although some websites announced a general redesign, the 2016 Rio will suffer just a mild refresh. It’s hard to name all the aspects which will be improved, but it’s certain that the front fascia will be redesigned. This may be a chance to improve other features, since the new Rio doesn’t belong to the basic line of vehicles. They invested a lot into various improvements of this car before, so it can be a decent rival to the more and more severe competition within the subcompact market segment. Since the interior of this car already was very satisfying and surprisingly well equipped, the 2016 Kia Rio won’t have any trouble with its cabin even if they don’t change anything. The exterior will be refreshed, but we don’t know the exact scale of the changes. The powertrain should be the same, but there’s a possibility that the 2016 model year brings some additional improvements, which would certainly make the new Rio more attractive. If they make some changes regarding the power output and other essential specs, the 2016 Kia Rio might have better performance, but everything about that topic belongs to the field of speculations, since there is no any official information about powertrain updates.
2016 Kia Rio Exterior Refresh
However, what’s certain is that the 2016 Kia Rio will have its exterior refreshed. The body shape would be almost the same, so the basic design language will be kept. Of course, it will come both as a hatchback and a sedan. As we already said, the front fascia will look different. We don’t know how exactly the face of the 2016 Kia Rio will be altered, but the grille will be changed for sure. The famous tiger nose grille, which is a distinctive exterior feature of all the Kia vehicles will look more contemporary and it’s expected to make better visual effect in cooperation with the headlights. According to some reports, the only thing that the refreshed Kia Rio will have changed is its grille, but according to some other, the complete front fascia will be redesigned. Having in mind that it won’t come with extended wheelbase and overall body length, only improved suspension could help with not-so-smooth ride. They won’t make a mistake if they invest some resources into the steering improvement. The steering at the current model is just fine, but as a subcompact, the 2016 Kia Rio should perhaps be more agile. There probably won’t be any changes regarding the trims. It’s expected that the 2016 Rio comes with already established LX, EX and SX trims.
Powertrain Of 2016 Kia Rio
It would be great if they decide to update the powertrain of the 2016 Kia Rio. Unfortunately, there is no reliable information about that issue. The absence of the information doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be any changes, but the 2016 Rio would probably come with the same engine as its predecessors. It seems that this subcompact car will be powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four which is able to generate 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. Some rumors say that they may improve the power output, but we should take this with caution, since it isn’t something we should rely on. The current model’s LX trim comes with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, while there’s an optional six-speed automatic, which is standard for the EX and SX trims. The 2016 model will probably inherit the same transmission, but there might be some changes.
2016 Kia Rio Price
As for the price, it’s too early to say with certainty estimates about the 2016 Kia Rio price tag. Having in mind that the price is a very important factor for every vehicle within the subcompact segment, it’s expected that the 2016 Rio come without price change. If it eventually comes with higher price, it won’t significantly differ from the current one.
