2016 Kia Optima Release & Features

The definite release date of the new Kia Optima is scheduled for 2015, so the fourth generation will be released as a 2016 model. What do we know about this car and its changes? Well, first of all, it will look somewhat different. With new exterior design, this sedan will look improved, more modern and powerful, but it will also have other aspects changed. Reportedly, the 2016 Optima will have a new engine option and those which will be carried over will be improved. There will also be a hybrid version of the sedan, as expected. All of the new features and improved performance won’t be that impressive if the manufacturer decided not to make it affordable. The price of the 2016 Kia Optima is one of the most important factors which will affect the sales. This car is a very affordable, yet very well-built sedan, whose performance and features could justify even a higher price.

2016 Kia Optima Appearance Improvements

The new exterior design of the 2016 Optima is sculpted following the current model. The current model has an elegant shape and a very handsome style. The manufacturer tried to keep the same feel, but to improve this car at the same time. The 2016 Kia Optima will have a lot of new details which will contribute to the overall appearance. Its front fascia will be restyled, having a new tiger nose grille which will follow the brand’s distinctive design, but it will be reshaped in order to be a little bit larger. The face of the new Optima will also be changed thanks to the redesigned headlights, which will pronounce the new dynamic spirit of the sedan together with the new hood. As for the rear end, the 2016 Optima will get a fresh pair of the taillights and probably some other design tweaks. The interior will also be improved. There will be a new dashboard, where the bigger touch screen will have the most dominant position.

Engine Lineup Changes

The 2016 Kia Optima will have a range of engine options. There will be a direct-injected 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which currently generates 274 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2016 model year might bring a slight power boost and probably better fuel economy. The other one might be a 2.4-liter direct-injected engine, which delivers 192 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It’s not clear whether this engine will be carried over to the 2016 Optima, but if it does, we could expect is power output to be improved. Reportedly, there will be a 2.5-liter engine, which is a pretty big secret. There’s no information about this mill yet, but it’s probably a very fuel-efficient powerplant, which is suitable not just for the 2016 Optima, but for the future iterations of this moniker. As expected, there will be a hybrid option, which will, according to some sources, be almost unchanged. If this is true, the powertrain of the 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid will deliver around 200 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of twist.

2016 Kia Optima Starting Price

The 2016 Kia Optima will hit the market during the next year as a 2016 model, like we already said. We also said that one of the most important features of this car is its price. That’s why the base price of the 2016 Optima will be around $21,500. Of course, this is just an estimation, but even if they decide to make the starting price a little bit higher, the new Optima would still be a highly competitive car, whose price will be noticeably lower compared to the price of its direct competitors.
