2016 Ford GT Limited Edition with V6 EcoBoost?
We wrote that there’s a possibility that the all-new 2016 Ford GT supercar appears at the Cobo center as one of most attractive vehicles located at the Ford’s stand. Although this was based on rumors and speculations which could indicate that the automaker prepares something, we had no confirmation about this car. The entire automotive public is still on the edge of their seats, but the latest Carscoops report suggests that the suspense might be over soon.
Will 2016 Ford GT Come as a Limited Edition?
They clearly stated that we should take this with a pinch of salt, but the rumors claim that the 2016 Ford GT will be unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Apparently, this is going to be a limited edition of 1,200 examples.
The brand’s halo coupe will, reportedly, be powered by a V6 EcoBoost engine. Although some would say that they could install a more powerful engine inside the 2016 GT, it seems that the EcoBoost will have a really satisfying power output. It will be rated at more than 600 horsepower.
Some earlier rumors indicated that the 2016 Ford GT might get a 5.2-liter V8 engine, but it seems that they’re going to use the halo car as a perfect way to exploit their EcoBoost technology and to prove that those engines can be used to motivate sports car, too.
How to Celebrate an Anniversary? Release a Supercar!
The 2016 Ford GT will be released as a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Ford GT’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. They will also create a new version of the famous race car which will enter the race again, but the production 2016 GT will be tamed sibling to the thoroughbred supercar.
Of course, this shouldn’t be taken as certain. We will see which of those early rumors were true once the 2015 NAIAS opens its gates.
