2016 Ford F-150 Changes: Great New Features
The 2016 Ford F-150 is coming with several exciting updates. The automaker decided to improve the pickup truck by new appearance packages and the latest driver assist technology – Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Also, the 2016 F-150 will be equipped with the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
They also said that they will offer the 2016 F-150 powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine with a gaseous-fuel prep option, so the truck is going to be capable of using compressed natural gas or propane.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist System
If you’re not familiar with the concept of the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system, you can certainly guess its purpose just by deducing from its name. The Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology has been under development and testing for almost ten years and now, they finally decided to install it in the 2016 F-150, so the truck can get such a feature first in the segment. But, how does it work?
The automaker recognized that there’s a need for a system that would help all of those who are not the most skilled drivers when it comes to going in reverse with a trailer. Of course, this system helps those who feel comfortable with maneuvering. Pro Trailer Backup Assist allows you turn the knob left or right so you could indicate direction, so the truck controls steering and speed.
2016 Ford F-150 Special Edition Packages
The 2016 Ford F-150 also comes with Special Edition Packages for XLT and Lariat trims. Thanks to the update, the truck is going to have completely new 20-inch premium anodized dark-painted aluminum wheels.
Aside from the unique wheels, the special-edition customized 2016 F-150 also has smoked headlamps, red lettering, distinctive graphics and badging, black running boards, special edition seats with Alcantara inserts, red contrast stitching and red bolsters, as well as unique red stitching on the transmission gear selector boot, instrument panel and steering wheel.
The Special Edition Package on XLT has a dark anodized grille with black mash. On the Lariat trim, the grille has red accents.
The XL trim has available 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted silver pockets.
