2016 Escalade Changes: New Technology All Around
Despite the fact that the Escalade is virtually brand new, since the new generation was launched last year, the 2016 Escalade is going to come with some changes. Although those changes won’t be huge, they will still improve the SUV.
It seems like the automaker noticed all the upgrades the current model needs (depicted here) and decided to offer them with the 2016 Cadillac Escalade and 2016 Cadillac Escalade ESV. Thanks to the very punctual GM Authority article, we found out all the changes the 2016 Escalade is going to get.
The luxury SUV is looking good. Its new style is attractive, elegant and powerful, as any Cadillac should be. But even if it wasn’t the truth, GM would hardly go with an exterior update so early in the life of the current generation.
Body Color Palette Changes
Therefore, the exterior changes are going to be limited to body color updates. The Escalade won’t be painted in Crystal Red Tintcoat and White Diamond Tricoat anymore. But instead of those two, the 2016 Escalade will offer for new colors: Dark Emerald Metallic, Gray Silk Metallic, Crystal White Tricoat, and Red Passion Tintcoat.
CUE System Upgrades
The 2016 Cadillac Escalade is going to get numerous updates of its CUE infotainment system. The Cadillac User Experience system suffered performance and speed improvements, so all the major flaws seem to be eliminated thanks to the more powerful processor that’s used for all the brand’s 2016 models.
Now, the 2016 Escalade has faster map loading with improved accuracy, as well as improved voice command response. The improved CUE got a new maps interface with simplified menu. It also has a capability of Bluetooth media browsing, but they removed the SD card slot. Since the crossover got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a SD card slot might seem a bit obsolete. If you ever thought that you’ll be nostalgic about SD cards as you were with other memory mediums, now is the time to start.
The 2016 Escalade, along with the CTS and XTS, can display the Surround Vision 360-degree feed on the CUE screen. There automaker said that the CUE screen will display the driving mode information, too.
2016 Cadillac Escalade Got Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
In addition to those features, all the Cadillac 2016 model year vehicles with an 8-inch multi-touch CUE will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But while the Apple Car Play feature will be distributed with the first units, the Android Auto feature will be installed later during the production of 2016 model year.
“Cadillac’s product transformation includes continuing upgrades to connectivity and in-car technology,” says David Leone, Executive Chief Engineer. “In 2015 Cadillac became the first luxury brand to feature broad use of wireless charging and 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and now in 2016 we’re moving quickly to enhance phone integration and overall system performance.”
More New Features
The 2016 Cadillac Escalade now has a new Advanced Diagnostics feature. This system warns the driver about relevant diagnostics issues by the CUE display. It can also send the information via a text message or an email. There’s also a new Lane Keep Assist system that’s added to the bundle of already installed driver assistance features. And, as every luxury vehicle requires, the 2016 Escalade offers a rear-seat entertainment system.
Do 2016 Escalade Changes Really Matter?
Perhaps every of those changes, when taken individually, looks minor after the big redesign, but when they add up to the 2016 model year update, the Escalade gets a really substantial improvement.
