2016 Cadillac CT6 Will Come with Aluminum Body
We wrote an article about the upcoming 2016 Cadillac CT6 design. It’s certainly going to be something to remember, but now we’ve learned, thanks to the Automobile Magazine report, that the body of the new Cadillac’s flagship will be made of aluminum. Of course, this won’t be the only material; the luxury sedan will be built using other lightweight materials, too. The 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be underpinned by the new Omega platform.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Exterior Design
Aside from these basic pieces of the big picture, we don’t have many reliable details about the new flagship sedan. We currently know that the 2016 CT6 won’t be influenced by the Elmiraj concept. The concept could have some styling cues incorporated at the new CT6, but the overall design language won’t rely on the Elmiraj concept. According to the Automobile Magazine, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will weigh between 3,700 and 4,100 pounds and this fact reveals that the luxury sedan will compete with the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and Audi A7.
It will be a flagship car which sits atop of sedans.
Possible Engine Options
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 will probably have all-new engine options. General Motors is developing a new lineup of four-, six- and eight-cylinder mills. One or more of these have a chance to be installed beneath the hood of the new CT6.
Also, the automaker has developed a rearview mirror with live high-resolution feed, which will be introduced with the 2016 Cadillac CT6.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Release Date
Currently, no one can say with certainty when the sedan is going to be unveiled, since there’s no official confirmation. The most reasonable time frame is next April, so the 2016 Cadillac CT6 might have its premiere at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The expectations are that the first units of the 2016 CT6 will leave dealerships late next year.
