2016 Bugatti Chiron — Veyron’s Successor Is the Most Powerful Production Car
The upcoming successor of the Bugatti Veyron will bring some essential changes. Although its body shape and overall style won’t be significantly different, the successor — which is probably going to be called the 2016 Bugatti Chiron — is coming with some radical changes regarding the powertrain. Of course, as it was announced, the 2016 Chiron will be the fastest production car in the world. Its performance will be amazing, but this is something really logical, since the power output of the Veyron’s successor is going to be around 1,500 horsepower. That’s why the 2016 Bugatti Chiron will be able to have outstanding acceleration and stunning top speed and why it could attract even more attention than its predecessor. Naturally, the new model won’t be able to have such an amazing performance with just the new powertrain. They had to make some body changes which decreased the overall weight. It’s questionable to what extent the weight loss would be reflected on the overall body weight, since the 2016 Chiron will have a bit heavier powertrain.
Cosmetic and Noticeable Body Changes
The body of the 2016 Bugatti Chiron will be made using a lot more lightweight materials than before. The automaker used carbon fiber and aluminum wherever it was possible, in order to shed some weight. The fact that they used a new approach doesn’t mean that the exterior design is going to be different. Of course, this car won’t look exactly the same as the Bugatti Veyron, but the overall style and the established design language will be kept. This isn’t because the automaker’s design team is lazy; it’s because of the mere fact that there are no numerous options when it comes to the body design of a car which can cross 140 yards in just one second. Some new details and fresh style will disclose that the 2016 Chiron is a new model, but it still inherits the Veyron’s tradition and philosophy.
2016 Bugatti Chiron Hybrid Powertrain – 1,500 Horsepower and Amazing Specs
Of course, the most attractive aspect of the Veyron’s successor will be the powertrain. Although the Veyron was a hybrid setup will deliver 1,500 horsepower approximately. It will consist of a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine whose new direct injection will drastically improve the Chiron’s performance. As for the transmission, the 2016 Chiron will get a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox which will transmit the power to all four wheels. Just as a comparison, the current Veyron is rated at 1184 horsepower. Having a hybrid setup this powerful, means that the 2016 Bugatti Chiron is going to be the fastest car in the world. It will accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and its top speed will be amazing — 286 mph!
2016 Bugatti Chiron Release, Expectations and Number of Units to Be Released
Currently, the Veyron’s successor is still in development, but the first unit will probably be introduced next year at some of the largest auto shows. According to the speculations bout this car, the price of the 2016 Bugatti Chiron is estimated to be higher than the Veyron’s. Of course, everything’s still questionable and there’s no reason to rush with conclusions, especially when we know that the first units probably won’t be seen on the roads before 2016. As if the price isn’t the only factor that’s going to determine how many specimens will be on the roads, the automaker will release the 2016 Chiron in a limited edition. Reportedly, there will be just 300 coupe and 150 targa top versions.
