2016 BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe — 600 HP of Luxury
The new 2016 BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is an epitome of everything the Bavarian automaker stands for. Well, almost everything. While the new four-door coupe is a powerful luxury car that delivers 600 horsepower thanks to its V8 engine, its all-wheel drive isn’t something that’s associated with the BMW brand. Of course, in order to tame the wild power that sits beneath the hood and to deliver expected performance, the 2016 B6 xDrive Gran Coupe has all-wheel drive as an instrument of superb handling and – as the manufacturer said – refined performance.
Exterior Details and Interior Specifics
Power and refinement – those two words can easily explain why the 2016 BMW B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is so magnetic. Its exterior looks really powerful. With carefully restyled front fascia and an attractive coupe roofline contribute to the overall impression, but those lines and curves along the Gran Coupe’s body are the most important factor that makes this car so handsome.
The front fascia has been enriched by a new front spoiler and apron as well as a new, gently reshaped kidney grille. The refinement part of the equation is also important. The 2016 B6 Gran Coupe has this graceful aura that completes the style and doesn’t let anyone forget that this is a luxury car, after all.
Inside the cabin, the automaker took great care about details. Since this is an ALPINA model, there’s ALPINA insignia everywhere. Acres of leather and other high-quality materials make the interior of this car top-notch. It comes with the BMW Navigation system and the BMW ConnectedDrive services.
2016 BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe Engine and Transmission
Under the hood, the 2016 BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe keeps a stunning 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that delivers 600 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque in the range between 3,500 and 4,500 rpm. According to the preliminary BMW’s statement, this Gran Coupe accelerates to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
This mill is connected to the wheels via an eight-speed Sport Automatic transmission that’s been especially tuned for this model. The ALPINA SWITH-TRONIC transmission brings the ALPINA spirit into the coupe’s performance. The transmission has been tuned to provide necessary degree of comfort as well as race car specs. There are three modes – Automatic, Sport and Manual, which can determine the nature of the gearbox’s behavior.
xDrive ALPINA AWD System
The all-wheel-drive system isn’t just yet another ordinary xDrive. The 2016 BMW B6 Gran Coupe has the all-wheel drive which comes with ALPINA settings. This means that, utilizing all the technical upsides of the xDrive system, they’ve managed to make some additional improvements.
Loaded with various sensors, the car will fight tooth and nail to stay on the road no matter how demanding someone’s driving style might be. The ALPINA xDrive system works closely with the Dynamic Stability Control to keep all the wheels on the surface, to provide ideal traction and to perfectly distribute torque.
