2016 Acura NSX Roadster & 2016 Honda NSX — What Will They Borrow From 2016 Acura NSX?
The people at Honda believe in the 2016 Acura NSX supercar. We wrote about this car earlier and it seems that it’s going to be very successful. However, the automaker has a plan to use the supercar’s features and popularity to expand the NSX family. Reportedly, they’re working on the 2016 Acura NSX Roadster which will add more flair and style to the NSX coupe. Also, they’re planning to develop the 2016 Honda NSX. Yes, that’s correct, a Honda version of the NSX. Although from the outside the 2016 Honda NSX will probably look similar — if not exactly the same — as the 2016 Acura NSX, all the superb features and advanced technology hidden below the skin of the supercar won’t be used. That way, the 2016 Honda NSX will have worse performance when compared to the supercar counterpart, but its upside will be that it’s going to be more affordable.
2016 Acura NSX Roadster Features — Hybrid Powertrain & SH-AWD
The 2016 Acura NSX Roadster, a special version of the classic NSX is going to borrow all the great features of its older sibling. According to the latest reports, it’s going to be built on the same architecture and it’s going to have exactly the same hybrid powertrain. This means that the 2016 NSX Roadster could have slightly better specs than the coupe, since it’s expected that it comes with a little bit less weight. The hybrid setup installed in both the 2016 Acura NSX Roadster and the 2016 Acura NSX Coupe consists of a V6 gasoline engine and three electric motors. Its overall power output is around 500 horsepower. To be even more amazing, the 2016 Acura NSX Roadster will also use the coupe’s SH-AWD system. Of course, as expected, the hybrid setup will send the power to the all wheels via a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Appearance Of 2016 Acura NSX Roadster
As for the appearance, the 2016 NSX Roadster will, naturally, be different from the coupe by the mere fact that it’s a convertible. Aside from the necessary characteristics which must come along with a drop-top model, the roadster will also have some unique details which will make it distinctive and special.
2016 Honda NSX Details
While the 2016 NSX Roadster is going to be different from the NSX coupe, the 2016 Honda NSX will try to look exactly the same. It’s differences won’t be visible from the outside, besides some basics such as the badging. What will make the 2016 Honda NSX different is under the hood. It will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This mill also powers the Acura RDX. Although some would say that having a brilliant aggressive exterior doesn’t comply with the V6 engine, it actually isn’t drastically less powerful than the 2016 Acura NSX setup. Of course, the Acura NSX is a supercar and there’s no doubt that every single facet of the car is stunning. However, the 2016 Honda NSX should be perceived as a more affordable gasoline version of the supercar which still has great performance. Reportedly, the V6 powerplant nested under the hood of the 2016 Honda NSX is expected to have a power output between 370 and 400 horsepower.
Of course, the most important factor that will make the 2016 Honda NSX desirable is its price. It will certainly have drastically lower price than the Acura NSX. On the other hand, the pricing of the 2016 Acura NSX Roadster is still unknown, but it’s expected to be similar to the coupe’s pricing.
