First Look At Euro-spec 2015 Volkswagen Passat
The Euro-spec 2015 Volkswagen Passat B8 is a completely new generation of this famous sedan. We already wrote about it. It will be distributed overseas, but unfortunately, the U.S.-spec version won’t be changed this time. The manufacturer released the first teaser image of the 2015 VW Passat. We can’t clearly see, but we anticipate that the front fascia of the new generation is very appealing. What we can see is a pair of the LED headlights. The new Passat comes with headlights which are completely LED, so the daytime running lights aren’t the only segment which has LEDs. The redesign of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat will be further revealed during this summer. They should release some additional photos, which will unveil other exterior characteristics. By the Paris Motor Show this October, when the Passat B8 will be introduced, we should know how it would look thanks to the photos. Built on the MQB platform, the 2015 Volkswagen Passat will be available in two different body styles — as a sedan and as a station wagon.
2015 Volkswagen Passat Redesigned Exterior
Thanks to the modern technology and body improvements, the vast use of aluminum and high-strength steel resulted in 187 pounds lighter vehicle. Of course, the fact that the 2015 Volkswagen Passat is slightly shorter than its predecessor also helped. The appearance of this car is improved thanks to the exterior changes which brought more sleek and dynamic design. The hood is expected to be longer, which instantly makes any car look more powerful. The redesigned front fascia and improved design language wouldn’t make a dramatic turn — the 2015 Passat will inherit a lot of the distinctive design of its predecessors. Those fresh elements should bring something fresh and appealing to the outdated exterior of the B7. At the teaser photo, we can perceive pronounced wheel arcs and improved overall body shape.
Powertrains Of 2015 Volkswagen Passat
As for the powertrain, we already wrote that the new Euro-spec Passat will come with different engine options. The most prominent engine will certainly be a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine, which is able to generate 237 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be connected to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The 2015 Volkswagen Passat comes with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The announced 2015 Volkswagen Passat plug-in hybrid will have a 1.4-liter TSI gas engine and an electric motor. Those two can deliver 211 horsepower together. The 2015 Passat hybrid in all-electric mode has driving range of 30 miles.
U.S.-spec Volkswagen Passat Should Come Next Year As 2016 Model
The U.S.-spec Passat will be refreshed next year. The 2016 Passat will get numerous improvements: new infotainment system, bi-xenon headlights, redesigned front fascia, new interior etc. We’ll write about it soon. Until the release of the North American 2016 VW Passat, the current version will be distributed.
