2015 Scion FR-S Update — Still Wild And Hip?

The 2015 Scion FR-S coupe is slightly improved and comes to outshine the glory of the last generation. According to the information we got, it will come with a notable facelift and improved interior. The 2015 Scion FR-S changes are obvious — it obtained a new grille, reshaped bumpers as well as lights, it rolls new aluminum wheels etc. The interior has been redesigned, with new quality materials used and high-end technologies implemented. The manufacturer took a special care of the 2015 Scion FR-S fuel economy, since that’s one of the most important deciding factors when it comes to buying a new car. Since, the brand Scion is created for the North American market, thanks to the design of the new 2015 FR-S, the rest of the world would envy the people who can have it. This car is a good-looking coupe and entertaining as a roller coaster. It got lower fuel consumption because of the weight loss and better handling thanks to the lowered center of gravity.

The engine installed under the hood of the 2015 Scion FR-S is an updated inline four-cylinder. It is a 2.5-liter engine which delivers 179 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Its power will be transmitted to the rear wheels of this coupe via a six-speed manual gearbox. Also, there is a six-speed automatic transmission available. The 2015 Scion FR-S performance is the best depicted by the fact that it doesn’t need full eight seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph with the manual transmission — it accelerates in 7.6 seconds. The version with an automatic gearbox accelerates in 8.3 seconds. Despite the announcement about improved fuel economy, there is no any data yet to support this standing. However, judging by the weight loss and the engine update, the 2015 Scion FR-S fuel economy may be drastically improved. The people at Toyota, the manufacturer of the Scion cars, managed to decrease the weight of this coupe by 220 pounds, by using modern light and strong materials.

According to a certain information, the sales figures of the Scion FR-S and Toyota GT 86 are not satisfying enough to justify the investment in already announced hybrid, convertible and sedan versions. This means that the 2015 Scion FR-S can be everything we will get. Unfortunately, the market hasn’t recognized the full potential of this car and therefore the manufacturer can’t develop it further without the economy logic behind such a demanding project.

The Scion brand was founded in 2002 by Toyota to attract the buyers which mostly belong to the Generation Y. The sales volumes were great until the taste of the primary demographic group slightly changed. Simply put, the Scion cars are not so cool anymore. However, both the manufacturer and the Scion dealers believe in the power of this avant-garde  brand, so we can probably expect a completely reinvented Scion cars in a couple of years.

Only a company big and strong as Toyota can hold for a while until they figure out how to make the Scion cars wanted again. Instead of creating an exit strategy, they plan to fight for the customers and see where their competitive spirit and the strong belief in the Scion brand will take them.

The 2015 Scion FR-S interior is dominated by the dashboard and the new touchscreen which will be mounted on the central console. This coupe will have comfortable seats and leather upholstery. The base version of the 2015 FR-S will have an automatic climate control, great smartphone connectivity (Bluetooth and USB), impressive entertainment and audio systems, navigation and a lot of more gadgets. The price of the 2015 Scion FR-S will be around $26,000 for the entry trim.
