2015 Ram 1500 Rebel Features: What You Shoud Know
Announced in a very mysterious way, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel was unveiled at the 2015 NAIAS as the latest addition to the Ram lineup. Creating an off-road version of the half-ton truck is expected to improve the brands image and sales. This rebel is coming with a cause.
At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show there were some very interesting debuts of long-awaited trucks. Perhaps someone would say that the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel can’t compete with the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, but nonetheless, the Rebel deserves to be treated in accordance with its uniqueness.
This off-road trim comes with an intention to be subtly nested right beneath the Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Naturally, since the Rebel is a half-ton truck, it can’t be compared with its bigger sibling, but the automaker’s basic idea was to offer a smaller truck along those lines.
2015 Ram 1500 Rebel Exterior Design
Obviously, the Rebel’s exterior is very different from the regular model. The regular Ram 1500 was used as a base, but the sportier appearance has been created by using numerous details all around the body.
The truck’s front fascia got a new different and blacked-out grille and a powerful-looking front bumper. To complete the revised appearance, the automaker used a pair of blacked-out headlights, new LED fog lights and a big Ram lettering logo. The truck is going to be available with a crew-cab and a 5’7” bed.
At the tailgate, there’s a large stamped lettering logo which is also blacked-out, as well as the taillights that come with black bezels. Two shiny details at the rear end are chrome exhaust tips that stick out beneath the black-powder-coated rear bumper.
Borrowing the color from the front fascia, the Rebel has wheel-arch moldings, mirrors and lower body panels in black which enhances the overall sporty feel. Matte black accents can also be spotted at the wheels. The Rebel trim has all-new 17-inch aluminum wheels.
The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel has five body colors available: Flame Red, Brilliant Black, Bright White, Bright Silver Metallic and Granite Crystal Metallic. They offer it in both monotone and two-tone schemes.
The automaker changed the regular suspension and installed Bilstein shocks tuned especially for the Rebel, so the truck now has slightly higher ground clearance. This one inch increase isn’t very dramatic improvement, but the change is noticeable.
The truck’s interior follows the same style established outside. With black surfaces around the cabin Radar Red and Light Gray accent stitching really stands out. The center stack comes with Iron Gray Metallic finishing. There’s also a heated steering wheel that’s wrapped in semi-perforated black leather with Radar Red accent stitching and a number of subtle details that contribute to the overall upscale feel.
2015 Ram 1500 Rebel Engine Options and Powertrain
The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel has two engine options. There’s a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. According to the automaker, this mill returns 25 mpg. Another engine option is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that generates 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of twist.
While the V8 HEMI has two powertrain choices – 4×4 or 4×2 powertrains with 3.92 or 3.21 gear ratios – the Pentastar version of the Rebel is mated exclusively to the 4×4 powertrain with a 3.92 gear ratio.
No matter which engine option is chosen, the 2015 Rebel comes with a rear anti-spin differential and an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
2015 Rebel Release Date
The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel will be released later this year, probably this fall. In spite of the fact that they could release it as the 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel, the truck is going to be released as a 2015 model. They’re going to announce the pricing as the release date comes closer.
