2015 Porsche Cayman GTS Review — Impressive Specs
This year will bring yet another improvement of the famous Porsche’s coupe, named the 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS. Alongside with its convertible sibling, the Boxster, it will come refreshed, more powerful and better performing. The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS has improved suspension, increased power and modern appearance, which doesn’t diverge from the traditional design language, but the changes are noticeable. This high-performance machine already had great specs, but with the GTS package, it will be stunning. Thanks to the Active Suspension Management, it will have improved handling, so the higher power output will be controlled better. Of course, they thought about the interior improvements, too, so the cabin of the 2015 Cayman GTS is revised in more luxurious fashion.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS Engine, Transmissions & Performance
The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS is powered by a 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, as well as the Boxster. The fact that those two share the engine doesn’t mean that it will have the same power output. The 2015 Cayman GTS is slightly more powerful. The engine, which was borrowed from the Cayman S is improved before installing under the hood of the GTS, so it has 340 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque now. This unit is mated with a 7-speed automatic PDK transmission or a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. While the 2015 GTS with manual transmission has top speed of 175 mpg and 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.6 seconds, the PDK transmission has slightly better results — top speed of 177 mph and 0-60 mph sprint in 4.3 seconds. The standard Active Suspension Management is able to adjust the suspension stiffness in accordance with the chosen drive mode. That’s the secret behind the improved handling, because the 2015 Cayman GTS in Sport+ mode listens for the slightest sign of the driver and responds immediately.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS Exterior Refresh
The exterior of the 2015 Cayman GTS is mildly refreshed, but enough to be different from its predecessors. They updated both the front and the rear fascia. With new, more aggressive expression on its face, due to the grille reshaping tweaks, the GTS looks dynamic and competitive. The appearance of the front end is also improved by LED daytime-running lights and HID headlights. The opposite side has a reshaped lower air diffuser. New twin exhaust tips contribute to the more dynamic appearance. The Sport Chrono package is a standard and brings 20-inch wheels.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS Interior Changes
Thanks to the essentially improving changes of the cabin, the cabin of the 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS got new, more luxurious feel. Wherever they could place Alcantara, they did. Everything that could be wrapped in Alcantara leather — seats, steering wheel, armrests, dashboard — now has this luxury touch. The tachometer changed the color, so now we have a red one, which complements the GTS’ racing desires.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS Price
The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS price for the entry version is around $76,000. Any additional features will add to the base MSRP. Having in mind that those features contribute to the performance, paying additional several grands for the PDK transmission, carbon ceramic brakes or the torque vectoring differential, may be worth of the investment.
