2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 Performance Coupe Features
The premiere of the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 will be at the 2014 Paris Auto Show. The manufacturer will reveal more information about this car, but currently, it’s known more than enough for the automotive public to be impressed. The mere fact that this is a limited edition of an already stunning sports car can keep you on the edge of your chair. The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 differs from the GT S at first glance. Its appearance is altered in order to pronounce how special this coupe is, but the overall body shape isn’t changed. Although the official specs of the Edition 1 model aren’t known, the automaker disclosed two official pictures where we can see how the limited edition coupe will look. The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 will be released together with the GT S, after the Paris Auto Show, but those two won’t have the same price. The Edition 1 will cost a little bit more, but it’s sure that the price difference will be justified.
2015 Mercedes-AMG Edition 1 V8 Engine
The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, which delivers 510 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 470 lb-ft of torque. This mill provides amazing performance, so the GT S accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, while its top speed is 192 mph. The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 will have exactly the same V8 engine. Therefore, there will be no power boost or other mechanical changes.
What’s So Different On Exterior Of Edition 1?
Of course, the engine is important but the Edition 1 will differ in many other ways. The exterior of the limited edition coupe will be almost the same as the GT’s body design, but there are some details which make the Edition 1 special. Painted in matte gray, which is a color that perfectly suits the muscles of the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1, the coupe’s body looks even more impressive on brand new 10-spoke alloy wheels. What’s specific about the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 is a lot of carbon-fibre. They used it for the front bumper, for the air ducts and of course for the fixed rear wing. The side skirts are a little bit different, contributing to the overall more powerful appearance. As you can see, the exterior is changed, but the changes are subtle and stylish.
Interior Styling Tweaks
The interior won’t be significantly different. However, some minor changes are expected. It’s sure that the cabin of the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT Editon 1 will have several Edition 1 badges and yellow accents. This way the cabin will be different enough to remind the occupants that they’re inside a limited edition sports car and how special it is.
