2015 Lincoln MKC — Just A Crossover. Or A Revolution?

The 2015 Lincoln MKC is a crossover which diverges from the recognizable style of the Lincoln vehicles. Its size, style and appearance may be considered as a start of a new era for Lincoln Motor Company. The 2015 MKC has the same basic architecture as some of the Ford’s models — Focus, C-Max and Escape. That being told, one would assume that there is a lot in common between the new Lincoln MKC and these other vehicles, but the truth is that this is a very interesting and special crossover. The fact that it belongs to the Lincoln family rises a question why we haven’t seen something like this before. Is this just yet another ordinary luxurious crossover or the milestone of Lincoln’s manufacturing revolution?

Since the plan is to grab a piece of the market which becomes to the high-class vehicles, the 2015 Lincoln MKC looks really fantastic. Its vertically split grille is shaped as a brilliant example of style. It looks good, maybe a little aggressive, but classy for sure and it doesn’t stand out in a caricature way like some of the modern grilles. It dictates an initial vector for the headlights, so they follow the shape making a harmonically composed front end. The upper line of the grille and headlights continues all the way to the back, making an impressive shoulder line and connecting the segments of the 2015 Lincoln MKC in a compact body look. The rear end has very good-looking taillights and the rear bumper which brings the visual balance between the upper and the lower part. At first glance, the 2015 Lincoln MKC looks like a symbol of luxury, mostly because of the tastefully shaped wheel arches and the height ratio between the doors and the windows. However, it would look much better if they made the gap between the doors and the body a little bit thinner. The 2015 Lincoln MKC features list starts and ends with its glass roof, because it contributes a lot to the overall feel of the interior, which looks light, comfortable and more spacious than it really is.

The 2015 Lincoln MKC base engine will be a 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with variable valve timing, which can deliver up to 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The other one is a four-cylinder engine too, but it is an engine of 2.3-liters. This EcoBoost can produce up to 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy data isn’t available yet. The 2015 Lincoln MKC FWD will be an entry level, but there will be an option of getting the new MKC with AWD which will come along with the Lincoln Drive Control system. No matter the drive or the engine, there will be a shiftable six-speed automatic gearbox installed.

The first weeks of summer will be the time when the 2015 Lincoln MKC will be released. Of course, its price will depend on the trim level and optional features you choose, but the FWD model price is starting at around $33,000, while the AWD model price is starting at around $35,500.
