2015 Lexus GS F Performance Sedan Announcement
The upcoming 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show this November will probably host the premiere of the 2015 Lexus GS F sedan. The performance version of the Lexus GS is ready to be introduced. Improved with numerous changes, from weight reduction to the powertrain, the 2015 GS F will be able to compete against all the other performance sedans within its market niche. That’s why they had to dedicate attention to the tiniest details, because prestige is very important in the world of high-performance cars. The 2015 Lexus GS F will be powered by a V8 engine, taken from the Lexus RC F coupe. This mill could be boosted for the sedan, because it has to compensate the size and the weight of the GS F. That way the performance won’t be affected or, at least, won’t be significantly worse than the performance of the coupe, but we have to wait for the official details about the sedan’s powertrain and its specs. The 2015 Lexus GS F isn’t going to compete against its rivals just by its features and performance. Its price, although unconfirmed, will be very attractive, since according to some rumors the 2015 GS F will cost around $70,000.
Sporty Exterior Design And Weight Reduction
The difference between the regular GS sedan and the GS F is pretty noticeable. The 2015 GS F was built to shock, impress and treat the driver with amazing performance. Of course, having in mind that the GS isn’t a dull and boring sedan, the GS F looks even more attractive. From the outside, the difference is obvious. The body is lower and looking sportier. The GS F looks like a full-blooded racer with its large air intakes, dominant big grille and the front bumper. The rear end looks also aggressive: there is a good-looking rear diffuser and amazing exhaust tips. The exterior will also reveal the vast use of carbon-fiber, but the manufacturer used lightweight materials wherever it was possible in order to shed the weight. The platform of the 2015 Lexus GS F is completely different from the basic architecture of the GS. A performance sedan needs a platform which is able to provide better underpinning.
2015 Lexus GS F Powertrain: 5.0-liter V8 Engine, Transmission & Drive
The 2015 Lexus GS F is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine, as we already said. Under the hood of the Lexus RC F coupe, this mill delivers 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque. If they boost it, like it’s expected, the power output of the V8 might come close to the 500-hp mark. Perhaps the numbers aren’t impressive as the specs of some of the sedan’s competitors, but the performance of the GS F will certainly be at the same level. Let’s not forget, this car will compete against the BMW M5, Audi S6 and the announced Cadillac CTS-V. This mere fact promises great performance specs. The engine will be mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, the same gearbox which is used for the RC F. As for the drive, the 2015 GS F will have rear-wheel drive only.
2015 Lexus GS F Premiere, Release & Estimated Price
The 2015 Lexus GS F will be unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show this November, as we already mentioned. It’s expected to be available almost immediately after the premiere — by the end of the year or early next year. As for the price, the 2015 GS F will probably start somewhere around $70,000.
