2015 Infiniti Q60 — What’s New?
The 2015 Infiniti Q60 coupe will come as a strong competitor on the coupe market. Despite the fact this coupe will be a serious hazard for BMW Series 4 sales, the 2015 Q60 won’t compete in its market niche only. It is expected that Nissan, the car manufacturer whose premium brand is Infiniti, targets a little bit wider and try to attract various buyers from different market segments. They are pretty sure the 2015 Infiniti Q60 has capabilities to take over the market of luxury coupes and get some significant attention from driver who never thought about having a coupe. Are they overconfident or they know what they are doing? Will they do their best to impress us and how will they do it?
CHANGES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 2015 INFINITI Q60 AND Q50
Well, they took the strategy from BMW. We couldn’t help but notice that the 2015 Infiniti Q60 will be based on its sibling Infiniti Q50, exactly like BMW did while developing BMW Series 4 using its Series 3. That will cause a lot of common elements between the 2015 Q60 and 2014 Q50 which will be noted. Both of this vehicles inherit the great tradition of Infiniti G37 sedan, a milestone in Infiniti’s automaking history. Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti president, said that the new Infiniti Q60 will be “a coupe derivative of the car Q50”. In a way, we can look at it like a different approach, or if you wish, a different implementation of the same idea.
2015 INFINITI Q60 ENGINE OPTIONS, TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE
It is expected that the 2015 Infiniti Q60 engine options palette consists of a 3.7-liter V-6 engine which can deliver up to 328 horsepower and a hybrid version which combines a little bit smaller V-6 engine (probably 3.5-liter) and electric motor. Both engine options installed into the 2015 Q60 are already seen under the hood of the 2014 Q50. It will, probably, have 7-speed automatic gearbox, which will transmit the power to the rear wheel in the basic model and all wheels in the AWD model. AWD will be available for both engine options. So, what’s new? They will make improvements which are associated with the spirit of coupe, and use it as a method to justify a slightly higher price. It doesn’t mean anything yet, but when we see the new Q60, its interior, its specs and features, we’ll be able to determine is Nissan’s effort enough to make us pay for it.
2015 INFINITI Q60 DEBUT, RELEASE AND PRICE
This outstanding coupe (at least that’s what is announced) will be available as 2015 or 2016 model. Some available information say that the manufacturer will wait to release it as 2016 model. They didn’t have set its debut date, but it is expected to happen during this year. After that, the 2015 Infiniti Q60 release date will be known. When it comes to price, estimations are that it will cost slightly above the price of Q50. This means, the 2015 Infiniti Q60 price will be around $45,000.
