2015 Ford Ranger Production Possibilities
The big news of this year was that the 2015 Ford Ranger (or 2015 Ford F-100) will be seen on assembly lines very soon. No matter how optimistic, this news and predictions brought a bit of skepticism at the same time. Will the 2015 Ford Ranger be made at all? No matter how determined Ford management sometimes seems too be, the economy logic behind every business operation is a law which every management must obey. The 2015 Ford Ranger should be a great compact pickup truck, with seriously improved fuel consumption, sold for a reasonable price. In some projections, it should be bought in millions. But, would that reasonable price be enough for the manufacturer just to cover the costs? Well, maybe not.
2015 FORD RANGER MARKET PROBLEMS AND IT’S RESURRECTION
The demand for mid-size pickup trucks in this year is almost the same as the last year. It’s been ten years since the beginning of destruction of this market segment. The compact pickup truck manufacturers started to make bigger and stronger vehicles, following the clues their market researches gave them. It’s based on a premise that every next generation pickup truck have to be superior compared to it’s predecessor. That business model left the mid-size truck market abandoned. Now, when the coast is clear and when only Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier run the show, GM made the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and the 2015 GMC Canyon is expected very soon. It seems that pickup trucks became too big, too expensive and too fuel-consuming. If the mid-size pickup truck market manages to revive, we should expect Ford to release the 2015 Ranger even earlier than expected.
THE ORIGIN OF THE 2015 FORD RANGER PRODUCTION TROUBLES
In December 2011 the production of Ford’s Ranger was shut down. This third generation of Ranger was made thanks to Ford’s Australian department. According to Doug Scott, Ford trucks marketing manager, that move was completely justified at the time. Since Ranger was very near Ford F-150 by it’s size, price and fuel economy, they decided to stop it’s production. Also, F-150 had much more options available, so it took a large portion of Ranger’s target pool and it became unreasonable to produce two very similar pickup trucks in almost the same price range.
2015 FORD RANGER CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS
That kind of trap will be easily avoided now. The new 2015 Ford Ranger is supposed to be 25% smaller than it’s bigger sibling, Ford F-150. It will have 3,000 pounds of towing and 1,000 pounds of payload capacity, so it will get the job done. But, the most important part is that the 2015 Ford Ranger fuel economy will be more than 30% better compared to F-150. It would be great to know that you can choose the most optimal truck for yourself. If the affordable, less fuel-consuming truck suits your needs, who would like to buy something that will cost much more?
2015 FORD RANGER PRICE AND MARKET POSITIONING
The 2015 Ford Ranger price will have to be below $20,000. The cheapest F-150 costs around $25,000, so the new Ranger will have to make a difference not only by it’s performance, but by it’s price, too. The question which bothers the people in Ford is would the 2015 Ford Ranger sales be good enough to cover more than a billion dollars invested in it’s production, when the price is set so low. The answer to this question is an answer to the question whether the 2015 Ford Ranger will be made at all. If Ford management estimates that, thanks to the current economy and the other manufacturers’ effort, the compact truck market starts to expand enough, the 2015 Ford Ranger will be on the roads soon.
