2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A Convertible — Roofless & Ruthless
Made in only 499 units, the 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A convertible is a very rare and an extremely good-looking car. The 2014 Paris Auto Show was honored to host its premiere. This spyder is actually an iteration of the 458 Speciale coupe, which can be anticipated from the name. By the way, the letter A is incorporated in the name because of the Italian word Aperta which means open. The convertible isn’t very different from the coupe. There are some improvements of the car’s aerodynamics, but those haven’t affected the appearance of the Speciale A. Actually, there are almost no noticeable changes, aside from the roof. The 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine which generates almost 600 horsepower. Thanks to the V8, the 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A will have outstanding performance, but the specs aren’t the only thing that’s important. The engine is a stunner, but the convertible’s style is what makes it so desirable and sexy.
Exterior Design And Aerodynamic Changes
The exterior of the 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A is, as we already said, pretty much the same as the exterior of the coupe counterpart. The convertible is actually a stylish extension to the lineup where the coupe already had its glorious moments. The aerodynamic changes they made will affect the performance of the car, which was confirmed by the manufacturer. They said that the Speciale A is the most aerodynamic roadster they ever made. As for the top, it’s made of aluminum. Reportedly, it can be retracted or deployed in 14 seconds. Since the Speciale A is a convertible, it couldn’t get a glass cover for the engine, but when the driver feels the wind for the first time, it would probably be a good incentive to forget about that.
2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A Engine Specs, Transmission & Drive
The convertible has a naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine, the same mill used for the Ferrari 458 Speciale Coupe. Its power output is 596 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Yet another compliment for the 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A is that this is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine nested under the hood of a roadster. Thanks to the V8 and the car’s carefully sculpted body, the Speciale A will have its top speed somewhere near the 199 mph mark. As for the acceleration, it will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. It requires approximately 9.5 seconds of the driver’s patience to reach 200 mph. The engine will send its power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed DCT transmission.
