2015 Chrysler 200 — The Lesson In Style Everyone Needs

The new 2015 Chrysler 200 is a sedan which is intended to represent the best of the American and Italian automotive industries. After its premiere at Detroit in January this year, it became clear that this car will probably have a bright future. Simply, it teaches us what the style actually is. The fact that it is the most affordable Chrysler-branded vehicle doesn’t necessary mean it is a low-quality car. However, we can’t now just conclude this car is good enough. Let’s investigate a little bit. First of all, is the 2015 Chrysler 200 a compact or a mid-size sedan? By its size, it would be reasonable to say that it belongs to the mid-size market segment, its manufacturer claims it is a mid-size sedan, but it is underpinned by the CUSW platform.

The CUSW (Compact U.S. Wide) platform was introduced in 2010.This platform is what the 2015 Chrysler 200 has in common with Dodge Dart and Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Although it’s name leads us to think it is actually compact, extending it provides better implementation opportunities, by embracing longer vehicles, too. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is 192.3 inches long, its wheelbase is 108 inches and weights 3,473 lb. Its overall interior volume is 115.9 cubic feet. This car simply can’t be considered a compact, in spite of some disputes here and there. The fact that it’s a mid-size sedan, it will have to be very good, since one in every six cars sold in the U.S. nowadays is a mid-size sedan. It’s a big market with a lot of serious competitors. One of the most important issues when provoking the buyers’ desire for a particular car is its design. The 2015 Chrysler 200 appearance in influenced by its front end, where the classic Chrysler design is implemented in a modern way. New halogen-projector headlights and grille are inherent at the face of this sedan It works very well with air intakes and fog lamps in the front bumper. The body line and aerodynamics make the 2015 Chrysler 200 drag coefficient 0.270. This car is handsome no matter the angle. It looks like it’s a bit angry, but smooth and stylish. Very stylish. Details like turn signals in the mirrors, LED tail lights and door handles in the color of the body (except for the 200C, which has chrome handles) improve the overall impression.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 will be available in four trim levels — LX, Limited, S and C. An attractive feature a panoramic sunroof is available for S and C trims only. The interior of this sedan is made following the American aesthetic standards. Besides its beautiful interior design, the 2015 Chrysler LX trim is surprisingly well equipped. No one can deny they created its interior with a lot of care. They spent a lot of time trying to make the dashboard more minimalistic, but more useful. Behind the steering wheel, the driver will see a 7-inch TFT color display with a lot of various information. The 8.4-inch UConnect screen is located at the center of the dashboard. Probably, it was a challenge to nest it there, since this is the largest screen in the mid-size sedan segment. The manufacturer aimed to declutter the center stack — that’s why they used a rotary shifter or an electronic parking brake. The base 2015 Chrysler 200 has filtered air conditioning, an USB port, audio jack and two 12V power outlets, steering wheel audio controls, eight standard airbags etc. These features can be seen in the 2015 Chrysler 200 LX trim. Advanced features and gadgets, like bigger wheels, sunroof, Pandora satellite radio, Nappa leather seats, HID headlamps, V-6 and AWD, come along the more expensive trims.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 engines will be made in Michigan. A 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder Tigershark SOHC engine and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. The first one can deliver 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. It has a 13 percent improved fuel economy in comparison with the ordinary V-6, thanks to the MultiAir 2 system. The V-6 Pentastar engine option will be available on S and C trim levels. It has 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The 2015 Chrysler 200 9-speed transmission will be mated with both engine options no matter the drive. There will be FWD and AWD offered, depending on a trim level.

Considering the differences among the trims, the price range is not wide at all. The price of the base trim LX will be $22,700, just a little bit less than the current model price. The Limited trim will cost $23,255. The wealth of the 200S trim level will be your for $24,495 and the 2015 Chrysler 200C price will be $25,995. The manufacturer expects the Limited trim to take a 40 percent share of the units sold. We will see if this will become reality after the 2015 Chrysler 200 release date. This sedan will be available by the end of the second quarter of this year.
