2015 BMW 6-Series Update Changes: Elegance, Power and Luxury
The facelifted 2015 BMW 6-Series comes in three flavors. The changes which the mid-cycle update brought equally affect the Coupe, the Convertible, and the Gran Coupe. They will introduce the changes in detail at the upcoming coupe is substantially improved. The exterior hasn’t suffered many changes. The car had just a mild cosmetic treatment, but it looks better than before. The automaker also improved the interior, where they used higher-quality materials. As for the powertrain, the 2015 BMW 6-Series won’t have big performance improvements, but it will compensate that with better fuel economy and lower emissions. It will be offered in three variants – the base 640i, the mid-level 650i, and of course, the top-notch M6. Although the performance edition, the 2015 BMW M6 will be the most powerful, even the entry version will be powerful enough for lots of good time behind the steering wheel.
2015 BMW 6-Series Exterior Update
The exterior of the 2015 BMW 6-Series has been slightly altered. The changes are detectable at the car’s face, where the automaker reshaped the front bumper and the prominent kidney grille. With those changes, the car inevitably got a reshaped pair of air intakes and different fog lights. The car’s LED headlights also suffered some restyling. On the opposite end, we can see a refreshed rear bumper.
One of the most obvious changes is the new wheels which come in two sizes. The versions with a six-cylinder mill under the hood have 17-inch wheels, while the V8 models sit atop of 18-inch wheels. The new M Sport Edition comes with huge forged 20-inch alloy wheels.
Luxury Interior and Advanced Technology
Since the 2015 BMW 6-Series is a luxury coupe, its high-quality upgrade in the cabin is very welcome. Aside from the new, premium materials which come with the entry version, the automaker offers additional trims that can significantly improve the interior. Speaking of standard features, the interior comes with heated power front seats, leather steering wheel, up-to-date BMW navigation system, dynamic cruise control with braking function and superb connectivity thanks to the advanced BMW ConnectedDrive system.
2015 BMW 6-Series Engine Options
As for the engines, the 2015 6-Series will be unveiled with not so dramatic changes, as we already said. Instead of power boost, the engineers went with efficiency improvements. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that the updated 6-Series’ powertrain wasn’t boosted at all.
The 2015 BMW 640i, powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six was slightly improved for the update and now it delivers 315 horsepower.
In the middle of the range is the 650i, whose turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine is rated at 445 horsepower.
Thanks to the TwinPower Turbo technology, both of those engines are in accordance with the latest Euro 6 emissions regulations and highly efficient.
The most powerful 2015 BMW M6 has a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 which generates 560 horsepower. If it comes with the Competition Package, it can produce stunning 575 horsepower.
While the 640i and the 650i are equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox, the M6 comes with a seven-speed M-DCT dual-clutch transmission.
The updated BMW 6-Series is coming, naturally, with standard rear-wheel drive. However, the 640i and the 650i can have the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
